Patent number: 8069701Abstract: An optical element is manufactured by means of a mould by a replication technique including a mold that is manufactured from a ductile metal and is given a mold shape which corresponds to a pattern of sub-elements by means of a die having a die surface which corresponds to the optical sub-element and which is imprinted in the mold with a predetermined force in consecutive positions in accordance with the pattern. A workpiece holder fastened to the mold including a stepped chamber which is displaceable relative to the workpiece holder by a positioning device. The die surface imprints the sub-shape in the mold with a predetermined force substantially independent of a position occupied by the die during imprinting. The predetermined force plastically deforms the ductile metal exclusively at the area of the surface contact between the mold and the die.Type: GrantFiled: July 25, 2006Date of Patent: December 6, 2011Assignee: Koninklijke Philips Electronics N.V.Inventors: Marinus J. Publication number: 20090203244Abstract: An electrical zipper-type connector is provided which can be used in wearable electronics applications. The connector has a first connector part (20) with an array of connector members (21, 24) and a second connector part (30) with an array of connector members (31, 34), which can mate with the first array of connector members. The first and second connector parts (20, 30) have contacts for forming a conductive path when the connector parts (20, 30) are mated with one another. Once the connector parts (20, 30) have been mated a force is applied between the contacts, which maintains them in electrical contact. The force can be applied in a variety of ways, such as by: a resilient coating (26) on the connector parts; a cord which pulls the connector parts together; having one connector part clasp the other connector part; or binding the connector parts together.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 15, 2005Publication date: August 13, 2009Applicant: KONINKLIJKE PHILIPS ELECTRONICS, N.V.Inventors: Jacob M.J. Patent number: 5898243Abstract: A displacement device with a first part (1) and a second part (3) which are mutually displaceable in a displacement direction. The first part (1) comprises a number of contact bodies (7) which are pressed against the second part (3) against a pretensioning force which is present between the first part (1) and the second part (3). The contact bodies (7) are movable stepwise relative to the first part (1) and are also displaceable perpendicularly to the displacement direction. A stepwise movement of the contact bodies (7) causes the first part (1) and the second part (3) to be displaced relative to one another in the displacement direction under the influence of a friction force present between the contact bodies (7) and the second part (3), while the first part (1) and the second part (3) are supported in an accurate position relative to one another perpendicular to the displacement direction through a displacement of the contact bodies (7) perpendicular to the displacement direction.Type: GrantFiled: November 12, 1997Date of Patent: April 27, 1999Assignee: U.S. Philips CorporationInventors: Marinus J. Patent number: 5711835Abstract: A drum-shaped workpiece (37) is machined according to a method whereby the workpiece (37) is fastened to a rotatable holder (1) of a machine tool (3) by means of an adhesive (45), for example a mixture including rosin and beeswax, such that a centerline (51) of the workpiece (37) coincides substantially with an axis of rotation (19) of the holder (1). This adhesive (45) is exclusively provided between the holder (1) and support surfaces (47, 49) of the workpiece (37) directed substantially parallel to the centerline (51), the workpiece (37) being brought into connection with the holder (1) exclusively via the adhesive (45). It is achieved thereby that mechanical stresses in the workpiece (37) caused by the fastening of the workpiece (37) to the holder (1) are as small as possible. A dimensional accuracy which the workpiece (37) has after being machined by the machine tool (3) and before being removed from the holder (1) thus remains intact when the workpiece (37) is removed from the holder (1).Type: GrantFiled: November 22, 1995Date of Patent: January 27, 1998Assignee: U.S. Philips CorporationInventors: Marinus J. Patent number: 5677579Abstract: An electric micromotor comprising a stator winding, a rotor magnet (11) mounted for rotation about a rotor axis (13) and having permanent-magnet poles facing the stator winding, and electrical connection means for the electrical connection of the stator winding to a power source. The stator winding is formed by a cylindrical body (1) having an electrically conductive cylindrical wall (3) provided with longitudinal slots, which extend from an axial end face (15) of the cylindrical body over at least a part of the length of this body, to bound and form axially extending electrical conductors (5) for cooperation with the permanent-magnet poles. The conductors are mechanically interconnected by electrically insulating reinforcement means (19) at the location of the longitudinal slots.Type: GrantFiled: May 23, 1995Date of Patent: October 14, 1997Assignee: U.S. Philips CorporationInventors: Marinus J. Patent number: 5381285Abstract: A bearing arrangement (15), in particular for a device (1) with a rotatable disc or a magnetic-tape apparatus (101) has a shaft (19) which is connected to an auxiliary member (23) via a hinge (21). The shaft (19) is radially supported and the auxiliary member (23) is axially supported. As a result of the connection via a hinge (21) the auxiliary member (23) can align itself without the alignment of the shaft (19) being influenced, so that the requirement imposed on the accuracy of the bearing surfaces of the shaft (19) relative to the bearing surfaces of the auxiliary member (23) can be less stringent.Type: GrantFiled: May 9, 1994Date of Patent: January 10, 1995Assignee: U.S. Philips CorporationInventor: Marinus J. Patent number: 5252884Abstract: The invention relates to a translation device comprising an actuator body and a coupling member which mechanically contacts said actuator body, the actuator body having at least one body of a solid electrolyte which is clamped between a pair of supporting surfaces and which is provided with at least one pair of electrodes between which mass transport takes place via the electrolyte under the influence of an electric potential difference, said mass transport causing the dimensions of the electrodes to change so that the coupling member is subject to a translation in a first coordination direction relative to a reference of the device. Preferably, AgI is used as the solid electrolyte and silver is used for the electrodes. On the basis of the above-mentioned principle, translation devices can be constructed for one, two or three-dimensional translations. Translations based on both translatory and rotatory motions are possible.Type: GrantFiled: April 28, 1992Date of Patent: October 12, 1993Assignee: U.S. Philips Corp.Inventor: Marinus J. J. Dona

Patent number: 5105692Abstract: A machine tool comprising a third carriage which is guided along a circular cylindrical guide of a second carriage by means of a static fluid bearing and which can thus rotate about an axis of rotation which coincides with a centerline of the circular cylindrical guide. A working point of a tool fastened to the third carriage lies on the axis of rotation so that an angular adjustment of the tool effected by rotation of the third carriage can take place independently of a position adjustment of the working point effected by a displacement of the second carriage and a first carriage. The machine tool can be used for the processing of surfaces, in particular in the manufacture of linear and circular Fresnel lenses for projection television screens by means of a cutting tool.Type: GrantFiled: November 26, 1990Date of Patent: April 21, 1992Assignee: U.S. Philips CorporationInventors: Marinus J.
