  • Patent number: 5945776
Abstract: The illumination device has a capped electric lamp (1), a reflector (10) and retention means (20) for keeping the lamp (1) fixed to the reflector (10), an electric element (4) of the lamp (1) being aligned with respect to the reflector (10). The cap (5) of the lamp (1) has sphere discs and/or V-shaped grooves as reference means (7) around an axis (3) of its lamp vessel (2), with respect to which the electric element (4) is aligned. • Patent number: 5572895
Abstract: A method for the mutual displacement of at least two parts of an actuator interconnected by a bridge, and such an actuator. The bridge which connects the two parts and extends parallel to a main surface is locally heated through and through with a temperature gradient which is minimized transverse to the main surface, and is subsequently cooled down whereby the length of the bridge between the parts is reduced owing to the plastic deformation which occurs, so that the parts are displaced relative to one another in a direction parallel to the main surface.

  • Patent number: 5450262
Abstract: A magnetic-tape apparatus has a magnetic-head unit with a magnetic head having a head face for guiding a magnetic tape. The magnetic head has transducing gaps for writing and/or reading information onto/from the magnetic tape. The magnetic-head unit further comprises two height limiters having tape-guide surfaces for guiding an edge of the magnetic tape. A tangent line, which is tangent to both tape-guide surfaces, extends perpendicularly to an imaginary line in the head face and passing through the transducing gaps. If an edge of the magnetic tape is in contact with the two height limiters, the position of the magnetic tape relative to the magnetic head is always the same, so that no azimuth errors can arise. In order to bring this edge of the magnetic tape into contact with the height limiters, the magnetic-head unit is mounted so as to be pivotable about an axis perpendicular to a tangent plane to the head face at the location of the transducing gaps.

  • Patent number: 5349880
Abstract: A transmission with variable mechanical prestress including a pinion driven by an electric motor, a driven gearwheel with its bearings in a housing, and an electromagnetic actuator for applying a prestress force which is controllable in dependence on an instantaneous load to be handled by the transmission. The electric motor with the pinion is supported so that it can be tilted relative to the housing. Owing to a tilting movement of the electric motor caused by the actuator, the pinion is pressed against the gearwheel with a certain prestress force in a radial direction. The transmission is free from play, while the virtual play arising from friction and hysteresis is strongly reduced, and the positioning accuracy is enhanced as a result.

  • Patent number: 5231760
Abstract: A shaving apparatus is provided which comprises a housing having a shaving head carrying an external shaving member with hair-entry apertures and an internal shaving member which is coupled to a motor in the housing and which is drivable relative to the external shaving member with a combined movement, the combined movement comprising an oscillatory rotation about an axis of rotation of the internal shaving member and a reciprocating movement in the direction of the axis of rotation. The internal shaving member is provided with a support which is flexible in the direction of the axis of rotation but which is stiff in directions transverse to said direction of the axis of rotation, and the support rotatably supports an internal shaving-member holder which is coupled to the motor.

  • Patent number: 5197969
Abstract: A depilation apparatus having a number of disc-shaped pinching plates (19) provided on a drive shaft (7) and a number of thrust cogs (41) provided on an auxiliary shaft (21), by means of which cogs the pinching plates are each tiltable about a first and a second tilting axis (81, 91) from a catching position into a pinching position in which the relevant pinching plate (19) exerts a pinching force on an adjacent pinching plate (19) tilted into the pinching position. Each pair of pinching plates positioned next to one another (19a, 19b), (19b, 19c), (19c, 19a) has a unique thrust cog (41a, 41b, 41c), so that each pinching plate (19) is in cooperation with each of its two adjacent pinching plates (19) and the hair catching range of the pinching plates (19) extends over the entire depilation opening (3). The thrust cogs (41a, 41b, 41c) are provided on the auxiliary shaft (21) at mutual angles of 120.degree.

  • Patent number: 5037359
Abstract: A transmission system comprising at least two wheels and a belt wound around the wheels with an unambiguous transmission ratio in that the transmission system is free from clearance and is comparatively stiff, while geometric errors, such as the polygon effect, and manufacturing errors and the occurrence of slip are neutralized in that the wheels are subdivided into segments, which can separately perform a tangential displacement. The belt has spaced opening for receiving the segments, which tangentially displace in case of misalignment of the segments to the belt openings. The belt has spaced opening for receiving the segments, which tangentially displace in case of misalignment of the segments to the belt openings.

  • Patent number: 4874286
Abstract: The invention relates to a manipulator comprising an end effector (27) displaceable by means of a rod mechanism comprising four arms (11,13,15,17). By means of simultaneously activated individual drives (29,35) for two of the arms (11,15) which are of equal length, which individual drives are integrated in a differential drive, a displacement of the rod mechanism is obtained in a plane at right angles to a main axis (3) about which the two arms (11,15) are rotatable. At the same and oppositely directed angular velocities of the arms (11,15) about the main axis (3), a radial (R) positioning of the end effector (27) takes place, while at the same angular velocities of the arms (11,15) in the same direction an angular (.theta.) displacement of the end effector (27) about the main axis is obtained. The manipulator is particularly suitable for use as assembling robot.

  • Patent number: 4872362
Abstract: A driving mechanism having a spindle which is provided with a first helical threaded portion having a lefthand direction of rotation and with a second helical threaded portion having a righthand direction of rotation. A pair of spindle guides each engage a respective spindle threaded portion for rotating the spindle and translating the spindle in an axial direction. Each spindle guide has three pairs of runner rollers on a sleeve for centering and supporting the spindle within the sleeves. The three pairs of runner rollers on each sleeve kinematically constrain the six degrees of freedom of the spindle without overconstraint to reduce friction and binding of the spindle in the spindle guides.

  • Patent number: 4713977
Abstract: The invention relates to a friction-disk transmission with a first shaft (19) and a coaxial second shaft (23) which are rotatable about a common axis of rotation (Z). The first shaft (19) is being coupled with a disk (1) which is tilted with respect to the axis of rotation (Z) and engages with friction a disk-shaped supporting member (11) secured to the second shaft (23) and rotatable about the axis of rotation (Z). The disk (1) is supported by an annular spring (3) and is tiltable about two axes (X, Y) which intersect each other perpendicularly and are located in a plane at right angles to the axis of rotation (Z). The tilting point (P) is located substantially at the point of intersection of the X-, Y- and Z-axes. The rotation of the disk (1) about the Z-axis is prevented by the annular spring (3).The friction-disk transmission can be used in apparatus requiring comparatively large transmission ratios, for example if a vacuum-tight separation is desired between the first and the second shaft.
