  • Patent number: 9816802
Abstract: An optical coherence tomography system comprising a light source (a) and a probe (e) that has a window at a front facing end. The window has an inner face (i) that has an anti-reflection surface and allows light from the source to pass through it, and an outer face (j) that reflects some of the light from the source and transmits some of the light to and from the sample (k). The reflected light acts as a reference.

  • Publication number: 20130109975
Abstract: A monolithic device for the non-invasive measurement of optical parameters relating to a biological tissue comprising: at least one light emitter that emits light having a range of wavelengths and/or at least one detector for detecting light in a range of wavelengths transmitted or backscattered by the tissue, wherein one or more structures with sub-wavelength features is formed on the at least one emitter and/or the at least one detector.

  • Publication number: 20130085353
Abstract: A system for non-invasive measurement of parameters relating to a biological tissue comprising: a plurality of light sources, each operable to emit a light signal with one or more predetermined wavelengths; a light detector for detecting light from the tissue as a result of illumination by the sources, and means for applying modulation functions to the light emitted to implement code division multiplexing, each source being associated with a different function, wherein the functions are selected so that there is substantially no cross correlation between them, and wherein the sources have overlapping spectra.

  • Publication number: 20040252370
Abstract: An optical microscope is described for observation of a specimen (10) capable of diffusing or emitting a beam of light, which includes a main optical system for formation of a real or virtual image of an area of observation of the specimen (10), comprising a main optical path from an objective (20) towards a real image plane or, respectively, towards a direction of observation of a virtual image, along which are interposed one or more movable beam diverting mirrors (28) operable to direct the image of a selected area of the observation plane of the specimen (10) towards the said real image plane or the said observation direction. The microscope includes an additional optical system (30) interposed along the optical path, operable to modulate the position of the area of observation of the specimen (10) along the optical axis, the image of which is formed or observed at focus.

  • Publication number: 20040193027
Abstract: Apparatus for the non-invasive measurement of parameters relating to a biological tissue by spectroscopy, in particular with infra-red light, is described and comprises a plurality of light sources each of which can emit a light signal with one or more predetermined wavelengths, towards the tissue, a light detector for detecting a light signal transmitted by the tissue as a result of the illumination by the sources, and driving means for the light emitted by the sources, for modulating the light signal emitted by each of the sources, the apparatus further comprising processing means to which the driving means are coupled in order to control the modulation of the light signals emitted by the sources in a “spread-spectrum” manner. A method for the non-invasive measurement of parameters relating to a biological tissue by spectroscopy, in particular with infra-red light, is also described.
