  • Publication number: 20230267905
Abstract: A noise barrier is adapted for use in an apparatus which produces noise during operation and which includes at least one blower for generating an airflow along a path through the apparatus. The noise barrier has one or more through holes and is configured to be placed in the path of the airflow for attenuating sound which propagates along the path in the airflow. The noise barrier is made of at least one sound attenuating polymeric foam, in particular a polyurethane foam. In order to achieve better sound attenuating properties the polymeric foam of the noise barrier has an airflow resistivity, measured in accordance with ISO 9053-1:2018, Part 1, which is higher than 50 000 Ns/m4. Moreover, the dynamic Young's modulus of the polymeric foam is preferably smaller than 250 kPa.

  • Patent number: 10669391
Abstract: The compressible sealing element (1) comprises at least one piece made of a resilient foam (17). This foam has an open-cell content of at least 50% and has such a hardness that it requires a force of less than 2000 N to compress the sealing element (1) per meter length thereof to such an extent that the volume of a rectangular cuboid circumscribing the sealing element is reduced by 40%. The sealing element comprises a water-impermeable cover layer (18) which extends at least over its top surface. The sealing element is intended for filling at least partially the gaps between the stock rails (13) and the switch rails (12) in a railway switch to prevent the switch from being blocked in particular by snow. Advantages of the new sealing element is that it can easier be inserted in these gaps and that it has a smaller effect on the force required to close the switch so that it can also be applied closer to the free extremity of the switch rail (12).

  • Patent number: 9168684
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method of making an elastomeric skin (1) wherein droplets of at least one first skin forming composition (2) are applied onto a mould surface to form a layer of the first skin forming composition thereon and wherein one or more second skin forming compositions (4) are applied at least partially onto the back of the layer of said first skin forming composition (2) to produce the skin (1). In order to obtain a special visual appearance when using of differently colored first and second skin forming materials, or in order to reduce the effect of the first skin forming composition (2) on the overall physical properties of the skin (1), the droplets of the first skin forming composition (2) are applied onto the mould surface and are allowed to coalesce to form a non-continuous layer of the first skin forming composition which comprises a plurality of gaps (3).

  • Publication number: 20050218555
Abstract: A method for making a mould (26) for producing an elastomeric skin which shows a texture. The required negative of this texture is provided on the mould surface by cutting the desired texture in the liner structure (24) used to form the mould surface; and/or by providing a master model (14) and by making the liner structure as an impression of the master model (14). The master model itself is provided with the desired texture by cutting this desired texture in the master model (14) or by using an elastic sheet material (12) forming the surface of the master model. The desired texture is either cut in the elastic sheet material (12) or the elastic sheet material (12) is made as an impression of a starting material (1) by moulding a flowable impression material having a Brookfield viscosity at application temperature smaller than 100 Pa·s, preferably smaller than 50 Pa·s, or even lower. By the use of such low viscous impression materials, a texture of a better quality can be achieved on the mould surface.
