  • Patent number: 9018780
Abstract: A control system to improve the production of a variable speed wind turbine comprising control devices for a standard regulation tracking a power vs. generator speed curve that also uses an alternative regulation for optimizing the energy production along determinate time periods Tb for compensating previous energy losses at a higher power Pb than the power determined by the standard regulation, the alternative regulation being based on a continuous calculation of the accumulated lost energy ALE as the energy lost with respect to the maximum allowed energy production according to the standard regulation and the fixation of the higher power Pb and a setting of the duration of the time periods Tb being compatible with wind turbine electrical or mechanical limitations. A wind turbine controlled by the method.

  • Patent number: 8517690
Abstract: The invention relates to an aerodynamic profile for the root of a wind turbine blade having a double leading edge, including a leading edge (13), a trailing edge (15) and suction and pressure sides (17, 19) between the leading edge (13) and the trailing edge (15). The profile (5, 5?, 5?) has a relative thickness in the 30%-50% range in at least one section (37) of the root region (31). In addition, the convex portion (21) of the pressure side (19) is configured such that the curvature thereof decreases from a value C0 at the leading edge (13) to a value C1 at a first point P1 and subsequently increases to a value C2 at a second point P2, after which it decreases to a value 0 at the end of the convex portion (21).

Abstract: Method of operation of a variable speed wind turbine (11) comprising control means for a standard regulation tracking a power vs. generator speed curve (21) that also uses an alternative regulation for optimizing the energy production along determinate time periods Tb for compensating previous energy losses at a higher power Pb than the power determined by said standard regulation, said alternative regulation being based on a continuous calculation of the accumulated lost energy ALE as the energy lost with respect to the maximum allowed energy production according to the standard regulation and on a setting of said higher power Pb and a setting of the duration of said time periods Tb being compatible with wind turbine electrical or mechanical limitations. The invención also refers to a wind turbine controlled by said method.

  • Publication number: 20110064582
Abstract: Wind turbine blade with high-lift devices in the leading edge and/or trailing edge (the latter has a relative thickness) in the root area, so that aerodynamic performance is improved and therefore the amount of energy extracted from the wind compared to traditional blades with cylindrical or oval roots.

  • Patent number: 7819001
Abstract: A minimum aerodynamic interference support for models in a cryogenic wind tunnel includes two main pieces: a front sting substantially parallel to the longitudinal axis of the model and a blade, integrated together and describing an obtuse angle. The support is connected to the model by means of the blade, being the model such that it emulates a tail section and/or wings of an aircraft. The front sting of the support comprises an extension, extended horizontally underneath a frontal zone of the fuselage of the model, starting from the point where the blade starts and extending past the point where the blade is connected to the model, in such a way that the length and area dimensions of the cross-section of the extension are obtained by applying the aerodynamic principle, area rule, to the ensemble made up by the front sting, the blade, the model and the extension.
