Publication number: 20250354545Abstract: A peristaltic pump can include radially movable lobes (4) to selectively contact a pump conduit (22) to drive fluid flow or permit free flow through the conduit. Lobes can be caused to move radially outwardly to engage a pump conduit in response to forward and reverse drive rotations of the lobes and/or a carrier (3) on which the lobes are mounted. Lobes can be contacted by a drive element (13) to move the lobes radially outwardly and to drive pump operation.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 13, 2023Publication date: November 20, 2025Applicant: Keurig Green Mountain, Inc.Inventors: Jiann Chen, Mario Liuzza

Publication number: 20220313004Abstract: A method and apparatus for frothing a beverage, e.g., using a beverage preparing device and an ejector is described. Within a housing of the beverage preparing device, an air supply and steam supply may be arranged to deliver air and steam to an ejector outside of the housing. Beverage liquid may be frothed by providing steam and air, then steam alone to achieve frothing and heating. An ejector may supply a mixture of steam and air and a controller may be used to regulate the flow of steam and air through the ejector. The ejector may have a venturi that uses steam flow to create a low pressure region, which draws air into the ejector.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 17, 2020Publication date: October 6, 2022Applicant: Keurig Green Mountain, Inc.Inventors: Paul Conroy, Timothy James MacLean, Mario Liuzza

Publication number: 20190166886Abstract: Systems, methods and cartridges for carbonating or otherwise dissolving gas in a precursor liquid, such as water, to form a beverage. Carbonating gas can be provided to a tank via the tank outlet, thereby purging at least a portion of a dispense line leading from the tank to a dispensing station. A single pump may be used to deliver liquid to the tank, e.g., for carbonation, and to pump pressurized air to dispense liquid from the tank. A water trap may help remove moisture from carbonating gas.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 5, 2019Publication date: June 6, 2019Inventors: Jeremy B. Gordon, Brian B. Johnson, Steven Raphaelson, Mario Liuzza, Scott Grubb, Trevor Beckett, Steven Mackey, Thomas Fedorka, Thomas J. Novak, Peter Rae Peterson, Miles Hember, Enrico Raffaele Cafaro

Patent number: 10136754Abstract: A method and apparatus for opening and closing a cartridge holder of a beverage forming machine. The cartridge holder may have an opening arranged to receive and hold a cartridge with the cartridge holder. The opening may be adjustable in size and/or shape to allow the cartridge holder to receive and engage with cartridges of different size and/or shape. The cartridge holder may include one or more movable portions that are adjustable in position to effectively adjust a size and/or shape of the opening.Type: GrantFiled: January 17, 2014Date of Patent: November 27, 2018Assignee: Keurig Green Mountain, Inc.Inventors: Geoffrey Y.
