  • Patent number: 7146980
Abstract: A tube for use in an anesthetic system has an essentially cylindrical housing. More effective take-up of carbon dioxide is achieved by an absorbent for carbon dioxide that is arranged within the tube.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: November 14, 2003
Date of Patent: December 12, 2006
    Assignee: Maquet Critical Care AB
    Inventor: Mario Loncar
  • Patent number: 7077136
Abstract: An anesthetic delivery system has a delivery unit containing a carbon dioxide retaining element and a reversible action anesthetic absorber/desorber for releasably retaining therein at least a portion of a charge of anesthetic agent. An externally accessible first internal flow section in the delivery unit directs gas through the delivery unit first through the anesthetic absorber/desorber and then through the carbon dioxide retaining element, sequentially. An externally accessible second internal flow section directs gas through the delivery unit via the anesthetic absorber/desorber and bypassing the carbon dioxide retaining element.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: February 26, 2003
Date of Patent: July 18, 2006
    Assignee: Maquet Critcal Care AB
Inventors: Christer Ahlmén, P{hacek over (a)}r Emtell, Mario Loncar

  • Patent number: 6892726
Abstract: The invention relates to an arrangement in connection with equipment used in patient care, the arrangement comprising a controllable device (2a, 2b), a measuring device (5a, 5b) adapted to measure a measuring signal dependent on the controllable parameter, a measuring point of the measuring signal, a transmission link (21, 22) between the measuring point of the measuring signal and the measuring device, which transmission link requires a separate connection, whereby the measuring device (5a, 5b) is adapted to convert the measuring signal into measuring value which correlates with the operation of the controllable device, and the arrangement further comprising a user interface (20) and a control unit (7a, 7b) adapted to control the controllable device on the basis of the measuring value and the set values.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: December 3, 1999
Date of Patent: May 17, 2005
    Assignee: Instrumentarium Corp.

  • Publication number: 20040099267
Abstract: An anaesthetic device has a manual ventilation bag, a mechanical ventilator and a user interface for setting an operating mode, including mechanical ventilation via the mechanical ventilator and manual ventilation via the manual ventilation bag, and for setting parameter values for the operating mode that has been set. The anaesthetic device further has a remote control for wireless transmission of commands to the user interface. The user interface is adapted to carry out the commands from the remote control only when the anaesthetic device is set for manual ventilation.

  • Publication number: 20030199804
Abstract: An anesthetic filter arrangement for the reflection of unused anesthetic agent in expiration gas back toward a patient has a filter housing having an interior portion arranged to provide an internal gas flow path for an inspiration gas and for an expiration gas passing alternately and in opposite directions through the housing and a filter element disposed in gas communication with the interior portion for adsorption of anesthetic agent from the expiration gas and subsequent desorption of the anesthetic agent into the inspiration gas. The arrangement further. has a thermal regulator operable to reduce thermal energy at the filter element by cooling one or both incoming gas and the filter element, and thereby vary one or both the adsorption and the desorption of the anesthetic agent.
