  • Publication number: 20050016345
Abstract: An apparatus is provided for moving book blocks in a triple cutter performing a front edge trim in a first position of the book block and a lateral edge trim in a second position of the book block. The apparatus has a first gripper which moves the book block into the first position and a second gripper which moves the book block into the second position. According to another embodiment, the triple cutter has a front blade and lateral blades and the apparatus has a conveyor table conveying a book block to a zero position. The conveyor table is mounted to pivot away and facilitate access to the front blade.

  • Publication number: 20040112195
Abstract: The invention is a new book trimming machine comprising trimming blades with combined movement, that is, with an arced movement and a non-circular rotation of the blade. The machine is provided with a central interchangeable pressing device to keep the sheets in horizontal position during trimming. The support table is constituted by two hinged parts with axis parallel to the advance direction of the book. Once the book has been trimmed, said two parts are rotated downwards in order to remove the trimmings. An overturning plane is positioned between the two side parts of the support table and is lifted and aligned with the two side parts of the support table when the blades trim the book. The front part of the conveyor belt that transports the book towards the support table slides around translating rollers, in such a way as to transfer the book onto the support table and then move away to let the trimmings of the book edge opposite the spine fall down.

  • Patent number: 6722645
Abstract: A machine for the continuous binding of books and booklets, includes clamps mounted on a chain for the transport of groups of sheets to be bound along various stations. Each clamp is provided with a manual opening mechanism. A sheet levelling device includes two parallel horizontal plates joined by connecting elements, the lower of which is permanently fixed to the machine, while the upper of which supports a horizontal levelling table provided with vibrators. Trimming millers are also provided. A glue spreading unit with rollers and blades includes two complementary parts. A first one of the parts is hinged to a structure of the machine, can be rotated laterally and supports a second interchangeable one of the parts that in turn supports a glue tank, the rollers and the blades.

  • Patent number: 6705604
Abstract: The novel pre-folding machine for book covers and/or wrappers, has two symmetrical units each provided with two parallel axes on which marking disks and counteracting cylinders are installed. One of the two symmetrical units is fixed, while the other is positioned on guides or rails that extend in parallel to the shafts on which the disks and cylinders are supported and it can be translated by way of a screw, in order to adapt the distance between the marking disks to the book thickness. The machine is also provided with two pairs of flap folding pliers, each one with two wings. One of the wings is fixed and coplanar with the sheet and serves as counteracting element for the other wing that rotates by approximately 180° folding the cover flap around the marking carried that was carried out just upstream by the disks of the two symmetrical units.

  • Patent number: 4630199
Abstract: The apparatus comprises an electronic teleprinter constituted by a first set of basic peripheral units such as the printer, keyboard etc. as well as a punch/reader, arranged to converse directly with the line and controlled by a first central unit, and a second set of peripheral units such as a disc unit, one line display and VDU controlled by a second CPU and able to execute more sophisticated operations such as the automatic filing of messages, their display etc. The two CPUs each autonomously control their own peripheral units with simultaneous processing, and periodically communicate with each other for the exchange of data and commands by way of an interface in an auxiliary unit. The CPU of the basic machine is thus free to handle the basic input/output procedures without having to service the auxiliary peripherals.

  • Patent number: 4441164
Abstract: A data processing apparatus is provided with a keyboard and a programmable read-only memory, for example of EPROM type, for durably preserving data which define the manner of operation of the apparatus. A programming circuit connected to the apparatus allows a new memory of the same type to be programmed either by automatic recording of data contained in the original EPROM memory, or by data entered by means of the keyboard in order to make available a new read-only memory provided with data modified relative to the data of the original memory.

  • Patent number: 4434324
Abstract: The system comprises at least one teleprinter station (1) connected to an exchange (3) by means of a transmission-reception line (2) and comprising a polarity detector (31) for the line circulating current, and a device (30) for reversing the connection of the line wires. If the wires erroneously become reversely connected following maintenance work on a line of single current type, then false call and conversation signals are generated which automatically trigger a checking operation in which the polarity detector is suitably examined under control of a ROM routine E controlling a CPU 84. If the current is found to be the reverse of the correct current, the reversing device is operated in order to reverse the polarity of the connection. In contrast, in the case of a double current line, the reversing device is operated when current is absent in the reception line, thus indicating an erroneous line connection. If the line current interruption is prolonged, a warning device (28) is activated.
