Abstract: A device and process for separating impurities from textile fibers during horizontal pneumatic transport is provided. The device includes a hollow parallelepiped separator of rectangular cross-section for the passage of transport fluids, such as air, therethrough. The passage section is subdivided into an upper part, for the cleaned fluid, and a lower part, for the separation of the impurities (i.e., foreign materials) in a hopper intercepted by an extractor having a seal. This subdivision is regulated by a deflector knife which induces an S-shaped motion of the transport fluid 4 and separates the impurities (i.e., foreign materials) by centrifugal force.

Abstract: An improved bale opening machine comprising beaters rotating at high speed in the gaps within a grid of shoes which bear on the bales being worked and which extend longitudinally into that region comprising a series of grooved wheels for leading and conveying the fibres into the region of action of the beaters. The conveying wheels also operate in the gaps between said shoes.

Abstract: An improved device for detecting extraneous conducting bodies in fiber bales processed in bale opening machines, comprising longitudinal shoes between which rotating beaters for withdrawing the fibers and grooved conveying wheels are inserted, and conductance sensors connected into an electrical circuit having one pole connected to the shoes and the other pole connected to said rotating members operating on the fibers and inserted in the gaps between the shoes.

Abstract: The separator, provided for installation in conventional ducts for conveying spinnable material staples to staple processing apparatus has a suitable duct which, at the bottom, opens to a collecting chamber, between this collecting chamber and the duct there being arranged a device to convey textile material to be discarded in a single direction.
