  • Patent number: 4848429
Abstract: The present invention concerns a tire for vehicle wheels, intended for being used for sports events and for high performance, that is capable of guaranteeing, under any running conditions--of time, as well as of the road, the best road-behaviour characteristics. The tire of the invention presents a tread pattern that is axially subdivided into two circumferential adjacent sections--of blocks and grooves respectively, and a tread-band--comprised by two circumferential portions that are axially adjacent--made from diverse elastomeric compositions and having a diverse thickness, where the line of separation--between the two sections of the pattern, does not coincide with the line of separation between the two portions made of elastomeric compositions. The said tread-band, is supported by a mixed textile/metallic breaker structure, having an asymmetrical profile--with respect to the equatorial plane of the tire.

  • Patent number: 4770222
Abstract: This invention concerns a tire especially for motorcycles, having a textile carcass that comprises at least one pair of cord plies. Each ply has a plurality of cords. The cords are parallel to each other, crossed with those of the adjacent plies and are symmetrically inclined with respect to the circumferential direction, preferably at an angle between 50.degree. and 65.degree. to the midcircumferential plane, measured on the tire crown zone. The tire also has an annular reinforcing structure between the carcass and the tread, comprising at least one pair of textile cord strips, the cords of said strips being crossed with each other and symmetrically inclined with respect to the circumferential direction, at an angle comprised between 18.degree. and 25.degree., measured also on the crown of the tire.

  • Patent number: 4357976
Abstract: A pneumatic tire having a radial carcass comprises two reinforcing layers, of metallic cords, one over the other, in each sidewall. A flipper may be embedded in the upper portion of the sidewall. The flipper is formed by the turned up end of the innermost layer of the sidewall around the second layer of the sidewall reinforcement.

  • Patent number: 4295511
Abstract: A pneumatic tire for vehicle wheels having a radial carcass is provided with an annular reinforcing structure inserted between the carcass and tread. The annular reinforcing structure is substantially inextensible and has a width which is at least as wide as the tread. The tire is provided in each sidewall with a mixed textile-metallic reinforcement member which has a strip which forms two skirts of different widths. The cords of the skirts are inclined with respect to the radial direction of the carcass cord. A second strip of metallic cords inclined with respect to the radial direction and narrower than the longer skirt is inserted between the skirts to the folded-edge. The larger skirt is disposed axially outside of the carcass ply and its turned over portion and radially extended from the bead zone to the tire's shoulder. The smaller skirt extends radially towards the inside from the shoulder to a point disposed in the sidewall, to a height between 66% and 20% of the tire's section height.

  • Patent number: 4231409
Abstract: This invention provides a pneumatic tire for vehicle wheels having a carcass, a tread and a breaker structure. The breaker structure has at least two layers of parallel cords at an angle of 10.degree.-35.degree. and made of a material having a tensile strength of at least 260 kg/mm.sup.2. The cords of one layer are crossed with respect to those of the adjacent layer. The breaker structure also has at least one strip of textile cords made of a material which shrinks in length when heated. The tire also has in each sidewall, a reinforcing element of at least one layer of textile or metal cords inclined with respect to the circumferential lines of the tire and at least two layers of cords parallel to each other in each layer and crossed with respect to those of the adjacent layer.

  • Patent number: 4214620
Abstract: A pneumatic tire is disclosed having a carcass with cords lying in radial or substantially radial planes, a strip of metal cords in the bead zone and the lower part of the sidewall extending radially from the core zone to from 25 to 45% of the tire section height with the cords inclined at an angle of 5.degree. to 15.degree. with respect to the circumferential lines of the tire and an axially outer situated second strip of cords of tension and compression resistant material, the cords of the second strip being inclined in an opposite sense to the cords of the first strip angled at 45.degree. to 90.degree. with respect to the circumferential lines of the tire. The tire structure permits the elimination of sidewall deformations when the tire runs at high speed along a curved trajectory, making for good riding comfort.

  • Patent number: 4166491
Abstract: A pneumatic tire for a vehicle has a carcass made from cords with the ends of the cords turned up around the beads of the tire. The crown of the tire has a tread and a reinforcing breaking structure. The breaker structure has three layers of cords superimposed one over the other with the width of the inner most layer being larger than the width of the next adjacent layer. The cords in each of the inner most and next adjacent layers are parallel to each other and are inclined at an angle of about 10.degree. to 35.degree. with respect to the equatorial plane of the tire. The cords of the innermost layer are extended in one direction and cross those of the next adjacent layer. A third layer of cords is disposed between the tread and the said next adjacent layer. The cords in this third layer are of a textile material which will shrink with increase in temperature.

  • Patent number: 4047551
Abstract: A pneumatic tire for a motor vehicle having a tread, beads and a radial carcass combines a carcass having radially disposed cords which extend from about one bead cord to about the other bead cord and having a strip of metal cords which extend substantially perpendicularly to the circumferential axis of the tire, a breaker structural member disposed between the carcass and tread having at least two superimposed layers of cords which are disposed in each layer to cross those of the adjacent layer and a layer of heat shrinkable cords disposed parallel to the equatorial plane of the tire, and a sidewall reinforcing structure of cords which are disposed radially outwardly of the radially disposed cords of the carcass. The cords of the sidewall reinforcing plies are parallel to each other and are inclined at an angle of 20.degree. to 30.degree. with respect to the circumferential line of the tire. The reinforcing ply for the sidewall is folded and the fold is disposed between the carcass and the breaker structure.
