  • Publication number: 20070256483
Abstract: A method for determining an actuating pressure of an operating element (1), for example in a motor vehicle, where the element is displaced as a result of the application of the actuating pressure. The actuating pressure of the operating element is determined without the use of a pressure sensor by way of deformation measurement.

  • Publication number: 20070245842
Abstract: A method for determining the position of a shifting element (11), for example of a sliding sleeve in an automatic transmission of a motor vehicle, with the element actuated by way an actuating element, for example comprising a shifting rod (8) and a shifting fork (10), via an operating element (1). From the actuating pressure and/or the shifting force of the operating element, deformation of the actuating element, for example the shifting rod (8) and/or the shifting fork (10), is determined which result in the position of the shifting element being determined with greater precision.

  • Publication number: 20060213300
Abstract: A method for controlling operational sequencing of gears in an automatic transmission (102) which has been built in an auxiliary mode. In the case of such a shifting transmission it is possible that during the engagement of its transmission gear stage, impact noises or contact noises are present in the shifting procedure. This can occur by the generation of a tooth-on-tooth positioning between the toothing of a sliding collar (126) and the come-along toothing of an idler gear (130, 132). Provision is made for the control of the activation movement of the sliding collar (126) carried out in such a manner that an activation condition impact of the transmission parts, which are partakers in the shifting associated transmission part onto other transmission parts with the least possible impact force and/or with a least possible impact noise level.

  • Publication number: 20060154783
Abstract: A method for establishing malfunctions of components of a motor vehicle power train as well as the reaction to the same. The power train has a drive motor and an automatic transmission with respectively allocated control devices, setting apparatus and sensors, and the transmission input shaft is allocated a torque sensor for recording the transmission input shaft. During operation of the motor vehicle, the functions of the control devices, the operating elements, the sensors and their data transmission apparatus as well as the measured values of the transmission input torque are recorded and checked for signs of malfunction. After recognizing such a malfunction, operations are conducted by means of which the motor vehicle can be further operated in an emergency type of operation or with the aid of which the driving operation can be safely ended.

  • Publication number: 20060154781
Abstract: The invention concerns a process for operating an automatically actuated friction clutch and/or a transmission within the drive train, in which a torque sensor is assigned to the input shaft of the transmission. In order to improve the operation of such a drive train, it is provided according to the invention that the curve of the measured transmission input torque is determined and evaluated in order to determine the load properties of the friction clutch and/or the transmission.

  • Publication number: 20060142919
Abstract: A method for controlling and regulating a transmission brake of an automatic transmission designed as a gear reduction unit in which the rotation speed of a countershaft of the gearbox can be decelerated in an upshift such that it corresponds to the synchronized rotation speed or comes close to it up to a predetermined distance during an upshift operation. The brake gradient of the countershaft rotation speed or the gear input rotation speed as well as the gear output shaft rotation speed is taken into consideration for the control and regulation of the gearbox brake. To improve the upshifts, operations it is provided that for the control and the regulation of the gearbox brake, in addition, the gradient of the gear output shaft rotation speed is analyzed.

  • Publication number: 20060116235
Abstract: A procedure for controlling an automatic transmission. Via a gear range shifter, a change of gear range both between the forward travel gear range and the reverse travel gear range as well as also between a fast gear mode and a creeper gear mode can be carried out. A control apparatus selects a transmission gear to be engaged, with consideration given to data, which has been input by an operator with the aid of a gear range shifter for the manual choice of a driving gear area. The gear range shifter possesses a D-shifting position for selecting a forward travel gear range, an N-position for the selection of an idle running position of the automatic transmission and an R-position for the selection of a reverse travel gear range, and that the automatic transmission can be driven in a fast gear mode as well as in a creeper gear mode.

  • Publication number: 20060107778
Abstract: A shifting unit (1) for an automatic transmission, especially controlled by pressurized medium for an automobile, with multiple valves which are connected to each other through a pressure supply line (30) and a pressure reduction line (32). The chambers (16, 18) of servo cylinders (10, 12) fitted with servo actuators contain at least one shift valve each (22, 24, 26, 28). There is a pressure accumulator (36) designed in between the pressure supply line (30) and the shift valves (22, 24, 26, 28).

  • Patent number: 6874383
Abstract: The inventive transmission has at least two different shift modes for shifting between the same two gear ratios. A control unit electronically senses various vehicle conditions and based on this information selects the appropriate shift mode suited for the particular driving situation. The transmission then shifts from one gear ratio to another based on this selection.

  • Patent number: 6641505
Abstract: A system and method of controlling an automatic clutch to prevent a motor vehicle engine from stalling is disclosed. The method includes the steps of determining an engine stall threshold, detecting accelerator pedal actuation, detecting current engine speed, and comparing current engine speed to the engine stall threshold. If the engine speed is below the engine stall threshold, a controller detects and compares vehicle acceleration to predetermined threshold acceleration such that the automatic clutch is actuated only when the vehicle acceleration is below the threshold acceleration. The system includes the step of detecting foot brake position such that the automatic clutch is only actuated if the foot brake is properly actuated. The controller will then actuate the automatic clutch to proportionally decouple the engine from the transmission to prevent engine stall. The automatic clutch will remain open until detecting a predetermined clearing condition.
