  • Patent number: 11110021
Abstract: A pressure therapy device includes a pressure chamber, an inflatable padding, a seal, and a positioning mechanism. The pressure chamber has an opening arranged for admitting the inflatable padding and a limb of a user. The inflatable padding is inflatable to enclose and fix the limb in position. The seal covers the opening, including the inflatable padding and the limb to seal the pressure chamber from ambient atmospheric pressure. A pump unit is provided to generate a non-atmospheric pressure within the pressure chamber and includes a first valve system and a piston with safety release features for preventing unsafe pressure levels.

  • Publication number: 20200268604
Abstract: A closure for an ampoule, the closure comprising: a cap portion arranged to engage with a broken neck of an opened ampoule; and a cylindrical skirt portion extending from the cap portion, the skirt portion being elastically deformable and being arranged to move from a first position in which it is at least partially folded back on itself to a second position in which it is unfolded and extends away from the cap portion. The closure can close off an opening such as that formed in an ampoule when the neck is snapped and the top removed. As the cap portion engages with the broken neck, it reduces the chances of users receiving lacerations from the sharp edges. The cap portion also seals the ampoule, preventing the contents from being spilled and/or wasted. The closure also provides a degree of impact protection, reinforcement and strengthening to the now weakened open end of the ampoule, e.g. in case the ampoule is dropped.

  • Patent number: 10661028
Abstract: A fluid transfer device may include a body member and a fluid transfer tip, wherein the fluid transfer tip may include a tapered friction fitting for a corresponding hub. The fluid transfer device also may include a disconnecting member having a front portion and a rear portion and engagement features operating between the disconnecting member and the body member. The engagement features engage with one another to inhibit the front portion of the disconnecting member from moving relative to the fluid transfer tip. The fluid transfer device is arranged such that upon application of a force to the rear portion of the disconnecting member, the disconnecting member deforms so that the engagement features are no longer in engagement with one another. This allows the front portion of the disconnecting member to move relative to the fluid transfer tip and subsequently release the hub from the friction fitting.

  • Publication number: 20200069863
Abstract: A storage device (2) for storing a plurality of objects. The storage device (2) comprises: a carousel (8) defining a plurality of cavities (34); a sealing strip (6) extending around the carousel (8) so as to seal the plurality of cavities (34) and a concentric guide structure (18) extending at least partially around the carousel (8). The storage device (2) further comprises a driving member (42) attached to the sealing strip (6). The driving member (42) is arranged such that when moved relative to the guide structure (18), the driving member (42) pulls on the sealing strip (6) and thereby releases a portion of the sealing strip (6) and subsequently wraps the released portion of the sealing strip (6) around the guide structure (18).

  • Patent number: 10258785
Abstract: A disconnecting mechanism includes a main body including a fluid transfer tip having a tapered surface to form a friction fit with a corresponding connector. The lever member includes a threaded portion to enable the corresponding connector part to be connected to the fluid transfer tip by a screw fit in addition to the friction fit, and an actuator portion to actuate release of the friction fit. In a first pivotal position, the threaded portion has a first position close to the fluid transfer tip to engage with an outer thread or rim of the corresponding part and thereby form the screw fit in addition to the friction fit. In a second pivotal position, the threaded portion has a second position further away from the fluid transfer tip to disconnect the screw fit and the actuator portion is moved forward to push the connector part and release the friction fit.

  • Publication number: 20190009073
Abstract: A fluid transfer device may include a fluid transfer tip that has a tapered friction fitting for a corresponding hub and an additional means for gripping a hub in a locked position when connected to the fluid transfer tip by the friction fitting. A disconnecting member is provided with a resilient bias that causes it to engage the gripping means and thereby assist in holding the hub in the locked position. The disconnecting member is moveable relative to the fluid transfer tip and against the resilient bias so as to release engagement of the gripping means, move the hub out of the locked position provided by the gripping means and release the hub from the friction fitting.

  • Publication number: 20180214229
Abstract: A device for shielding at least part of a limb from the view of a wearer of the device. The shielding device may include a shield with a first configuration in which it is substantially planar and a second configuration in which it has a three-dimensional shape. The shield may include one or more hinge lines, enabling it to be converted from the first configuration to the second configuration. The device also may include an attachment portion with one or more elongate members to attach around a limb of a wearer in use. An edge portion of the shield may include an outer edge opposite the hinge line that is at least partially divided into independently moveable sections such that the edge portion can be flexed to help convert the shield into a three-dimensional configuration.

  • Publication number: 20180085515
Abstract: A sealed package containing a medical device, such as a syringe, that has a predefined centre of mass. The package may include a cavity containing the device and a removable backing that seals the device inside the cavity. A fulcrum within the cavity is defined as a point of contact between the device and a wall of the cavity, the fulcrum being positioned such that the predefined centre of mass of the device is forward of the fulcrum so that the device tends to pivot forward about the fulcrum into a stable position. A front pocket is formed in the cavity which extends forward of and below the fulcrum to receive a front end of the device when the device is free to pivot into a stable position.

  • Publication number: 20180078715
Abstract: A fluid transfer device, or connector for a fluid transfer device, including a body member and a disconnecting member having a front portion and a rear portion. The disconnecting member is mounted to the body member so as to allow movement of its front portion relative to a fluid transfer tip, the fluid transfer tip may include a tapered friction fitting for a corresponding hub. There are provided engagement features operating between the disconnecting member and the body member which engage with one another to inhibit the front portion of the disconnecting member from moving relative to the fluid transfer tip. The device is arranged such that the disconnecting member deforms so that the engagement features are no longer in engagement with one another, thereby allowing the front portion of the disconnecting member to move relative to the fluid transfer tip and subsequently release the hub from the friction fitting.

  • Patent number: 9889259
Abstract: A fluid transfer device or connection with a fluid transfer tip that has a tapered friction fitting for a corresponding hub. A lever member is pivotally mounted to move relative to the fluid transfer tip. A latch such as a screw thread is mounted on the lever member to engage the hub and provide a positive connection e.g., screw fit in addition to the friction fitting. The lever member may optionally be resiliently biased by a spring. The hub is disconnected from the tip by pivoting the lever member to release the positive connection with the hub and to subsequently release the hub from the friction fitting.

  • Patent number: 9789266
Abstract: A fluid transfer device such as a syringe may include a fluid chamber in communication with a male connector tip. The male connector tip is tapered to form a friction fit when inserted in a corresponding female hub. A disconnecting member, e.g., in the form of a lever member has a front surface moveable along the male connector tip between a first position proximal to the fluid chamber and a second position spaced from the first position towards a distal end of the male connector tip so as to release the friction fit. A catch is arranged to catch the female hub after it has been released from the friction fit by the lever member moving towards the second position. The catch may be released when the lever member pivots back towards the first position under the resilient bias of a spring tongue.

  • Publication number: 20160262980
Abstract: A fluid transfer device (2) comprises a prefilled fluid chamber (4) in communication with a needleless fluid transfer tip, a cap (10) covering the fluid transfer tip, and a disconnecting member (14) operable to move the cap (10) so as to at least partially uncover the fluid transfer tip. The disconnecting member (14) comprises a lever member pivotally mounted to the prefilled fluid chamber (4) with a front surface (16) moveable to push the cap (10) away. The cap (10) can therefore be removed in a one-handed operation without requiring manual manipulation of the cap (10).
