  • Patent number: 9896006
Abstract: A device is disclosed for pre-tensioning an occupant restraint harness coupled to a seat portion of a motor vehicle seat and/or for pulling down the seat portion of the vehicle seat toward a seat base in embodiments in which the seat portion is suspended above the seat base. An elongated housing is secured to the seat portion, a web is coupled between the restraint harness or seat portion and the seat base or a support structure to which the seat base is mounted, and a piston carried by the housing defines a web guide in contact with the web between its two ends. As the piston moves along and relative to the housing in response to actuation thereof, the web guide displaces the web within the housing to pre-tension the occupant restraint harness and/or to pull the seat portion toward the seat base.

  • Patent number: 7318599
Abstract: A modular inflatable restraint apparatus includes an elongated housing defining an open channel, a manifold tube, an air bladder inflator and an inflatable air bladder all positioned within the open channel of the housing when the air bladder is deflated. The air bladder is secured to the manifold tube with an open end of the manifold tube in fluid communication with an interior portion of the air bladder and with an inflation end of the inflator. An elongated cover is mounted to the housing to cover the open channel with the manifold tube, deflated air bladder and inflator positioned therein. The inflator is responsive to an activation signal to inflate the air bladder, and at least a portion of the cover is configured to move away from the open channel to allow deployment of the air bladder from the open channel when the inflator inflates the air bladder.

  • Publication number: 20060170199
Abstract: One embodiment of the present invention is a belt guide apparatus (14) for an enhanced seatbelt restraint system (10) for a vehicle. The belt guide apparatus (14) includes a pivotal fastener (56) for attaching the belt guide apparatus (14) to a vehicle structure (20). The pivotal fastener (56) includes an interface portion (42) extending therefrom for supporting a belt (12) extending through the belt guide apparatus (14). Also, the pivotal fastener (56) is utilized for moving the belt guide apparatus (14) in three or more directions for maintaining the belt (12) substantially flat against the interface portion (42). Moreover, the interface portion (42) has a biasing mechanism (64) disposed adjacent thereto for pressing the belt (12) substantially flat against the interface portion (42).
