Patent number: 10742120Abstract: A power converter such as e.g. a buck converter operated in pulse frequency modulation PFM mode and a method are presented. The power converter has an inductor, a switching element, threshold current generator, resistive element, threshold current comparator, a current sensing means, and a current injecting means. The switching element controls an inductor current flowing through the inductor. The threshold current generator generates a threshold current based on a comparison between a reference voltage and an output voltage. The resistive element generates a threshold voltage at a reference node. The threshold current comparator generates, by comparing said threshold voltage with an inductor voltage, a control signal for turning off or on the switching element. The current sensing means senses a current indicative of the inductor current. The current injecting means generates an injection current based on the current sensed by the sensing means.Type: GrantFiled: April 3, 2019Date of Patent: August 11, 2020Assignee: Dialog Semiconductor (UK) LimitedInventor: Marius Padure

Patent number: 9083237Abstract: A converter circuit includes a converter and a controller. The converter converts an input voltage to an output voltage. The controller receives a reference voltage, generates a slew voltage having a substantially constant first slew rate if the reference voltage changes from a first level to a second level, and controls the converter based on the slew voltage to cause the output voltage to change from a third level to a fourth level at a substantially constant second slew rate.Type: GrantFiled: June 22, 2011Date of Patent: July 14, 2015Assignee: O2Micro, Inc.Inventors: Serban Mihai Popescu, Laszlo Lipcsei, Marius Padure, Guoyong Guo

Patent number: 7868693Abstract: An amplifier that receives an input signal and outputs an amplified output signal includes an integration stage, a comparison stage, and a full bridge circuit. The integration stage is be used for receiving a constant common mode voltage, for receiving a first signal representing the input signal of the amplifier, and for generating a ramp signal. The comparison stage coupled to the integration stage is used for generating a pulse width modulation signal according to the ramp signal and according to a hysteretic signal. The full bridge circuit coupled to the comparison stage is used for receiving a power supply and the pulse width modulation signal, and for generating the output of the amplifier.Type: GrantFiled: March 5, 2009Date of Patent: January 11, 2011Assignee: 02Micro International LimitedInventors: Marius Padure, Laszlo Lipcsei, Serban Mihai Popescu

Publication number: 20080224681Abstract: A controller for a DC to DC converter. The controller may include a resistor coupled to a switching node of the DC to DC converter. The switching node may be coupled to a high side switch and a low side switch of the DC to DC converter. A current level through the resistor may be responsive to a state of the high side switch and said low side switch. The controller may further include ramp generation circuitry responsive to the current level through the resistor to provide a ramp signal, and pulse width modulation (PWM) circuitry configured to generate a PWM signal in response to at least the ramp signal.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 24, 2008Publication date: September 18, 2008Applicant: O2MICRO, INC.Inventors: Marius Padure, Serban-Mihai Popescu, Laszlo Lipcsei
