  • Publication number: 20160205524
Abstract: In an emergency, a gateway application, which has been installed on a mobile communications device, is actuated to advise a public safety answering point (PSAP) in a public safety (PS) network of the emergency, and to disable restrictions on application downloading to the mobile device. Once the emergency has been confirmed by the PSAP, an emergency application, which has been selected by the PSAP, is downloaded to the mobile device. The downloaded emergency application can be executed by the PSAP and/or by a PS person, to remotely control the mobile device to help remedy the emergency. The downloaded emergency application can be removed from the mobile device upon closing of the emergency.

  • Publication number: 20160143031
Abstract: A mobile radio (MR) transmits short data during an active time division multiple access (TDMA) call in a wireless communication system. The mobile radio receives first communication media (CM) of the active call in a first slot of a first outbound TDMA logical channel (FLC) of an outbound traffic frequency having a slotting ratio n>=2. The MR transmits short data during at least a portion of a second slot of the FLC, pending short data on an inbound logical data channel of an inbound traffic frequency. The MR then receives second CM of the active call in a third slot of the FLC, and receives missed CM of the active call without specifically identifying the missed CM in any request for re-transmission of missed CM, in a first slot of a second outbound TDMA logical channel of the outbound traffic frequency.

  • Publication number: 20160135230
Abstract: A process carried out by a first mobile radio includes detecting a request to transmit group communication media and, responsively, determining, by the first mobile radio, whether a push-to-talk (PTT) key input is in an activated or de-activated state, selecting, by the first mobile radio and as a function of the determined state of the PTT key, one of a first talkgroup on a first wireless network and a second talkgroup on a second wireless network as a target talkgroup to transmit the communication media to, and transmitting, by the first mobile radio via a corresponding one of a first wireless communication interface to the first wireless network and a second wireless communication interface to the second wireless network, the communication media to the selected target talkgroup.

  • Publication number: 20160135229
Abstract: A process carried out by a first mobile radio for joining a sub-talkgroup of a first talkgroup includes receiving, via a provisioning process or via an infrastructure wireless communication interface from an infrastructure radio access network (RAN) while within wireless communication range of the RAN, a talkgroup-specific security token associated with and shared by all group mobile radios in a first talkgroup to which the first mobile radio is subscribed via the RAN. The first mobile radio then detects, via a short-range wireless communication interface, a second mobile radio, and authenticates, the second mobile radio using the talkgroup-specific security token. If the authentication is successful, the first mobile radio adds an identity of the second mobile radio to a sub-talkgroup set of mobile radios of the first talkgroup.

  • Publication number: 20160105778
Abstract: At least one embodiment takes the form of a process carried out by a first radio-network switching system (RNSS). The first RNSS maintains a talkgroup of mobile radios that includes a first mobile radio. The first RNSS receives an add-mobile-radio request from the first mobile radio and responsively sends an add-mobile-radio response to the first mobile radio. The add-mobile-radio response includes an add-mobile-radio authentication token. The first RNSS receives, from a second mobile radio, an add-mobile-radio authentication message that identifies the second mobile radio and that includes the add-mobile-radio authentication token. In response to receiving the add-mobile-radio authentication message from the second mobile radio, the first RNSS adds the identified second mobile radio to the talkgroup.

  • Publication number: 20160105773
Abstract: Communication groups are formed based on mobile station location history. The process includes receiving, at a controller device, a group formation request from a requesting device, the request specifying a location and a time window, identifying one or more mobile stations determined to be within a threshold area relative to the location during the time window, and causing a communication group to be created including the identified one or more mobile stations. A further process includes a requesting device configured to identify a location and time window associated with an event, transmit a group formation request specifying the location and the time window and requesting formation of a communication group comprising mobile stations located within a threshold area relative to the location during the time window, and transmit using a communication group identifier provided to the requesting device.

  • Publication number: 20160026850
Abstract: A method and apparatus for identifying fingers in contact with a touch screen is provided herein. During operation, a device will attempt to identify a particular finger pattern in contact with the touch screen by identifying fingers in contact with a touch screen. The fingers in contact with the touch screen are preferably identified by determining a fingerprint for each finger in contact with the touch screen. When a fingerprint for all fingers cannot be identified, a fingerprint map will be used to determine those fingers most likely in contact with the touch screen.
