Patent number: 10372833Abstract: A computer implemented method for managing parts used by different types of computer aided design systems. A master model of a part may be created. The master model is independent of a format used by the different types of computer aided design systems to handle parts. A view of the master model is created to form a geometric view in response to a request to distribute the part. The geometric view comprises parametric information about the part and dimension information for the part. A specific part model usable by the selected type of computer aided design system is created from the content stored in the storage system in response to a request for the part for use by a selected type of computer aided design system. The instance of the part is sent to the selected type of computer aided design system.Type: GrantFiled: October 31, 2008Date of Patent: August 6, 2019Assignee: The Boeing CompanyInventors: Darwin G Reed, Mark A. Dahl, Jerry K. Lawrence, David P. Knawa

Patent number: 9613320Abstract: A method and apparatus for identifying information for a product. User input selecting a proxy object in a product design on a computer system is received. The proxy object refers to a number of product standards used in the product design and is associated with a component in the product design. A role of a user is identified. A request for standards information for the component is sent to an interpreter module. The role of the user is included in the request. The standards information is received in a format based on the role of the operator such that the standards information is displayed in the computer system.Type: GrantFiled: June 13, 2011Date of Patent: April 4, 2017Assignee: THE BOEING COMPANYInventors: David P. Patent number: 9186540Abstract: A self-adjusting bolt action skewer clamp for a bicycle trainer includes a hollow, outer support member and an inner engagement member located inside the support member. The support member has a helical slot with a pocket at one end. The inner engagement member is attached to a handle via a carrier contained within a passage defined by the inner engagement member, and the handle can slide within the helical slot such that the inner engagement member will extend past the support member as the handle is rotated around the helical slot. Once it reaches the pocket, the handle will remain locked in place. The clamp tightens onto a rear axle of the bicycle. The spring allows the bicycle trainer to accommodate bicycles of various sizes without adjustment.Type: GrantFiled: October 1, 2013Date of Patent: November 17, 2015Assignee: Saris Cycling Group, Inc.Inventors: Benjamin R. Bass, Mark A. Dahl

Patent number: 9108077Abstract: A bicycle trainer includes a reverse resistance unit mounting arrangement that is configured to increase traction between a bicycle wheel and a resistance unit upon an increase in the speed of rotation of the wheel. The reverse resistance unit mounting arrangement is configured to mount the resistance unit in a suspension-type manner and has an actuator that initially positions the resistance unit against the bicycle wheel. The reverse resistance unit mounting arrangement tends to pivot the resistance unit against the bicycle wheel during use, to automatically bias the wheel toward the resistance unit to prevent slippage between the bicycle tire and the roller of the resistance unit.Type: GrantFiled: October 1, 2013Date of Patent: August 18, 2015Assignee: Saris Cycling Group, Inc.Inventors: Benjamin R. Bass, Mark A. Dahl

Patent number: 9050494Abstract: A controlled pressure resistance unit engagement system for bicycle training devices uses a clutch arrangement to limit the maximum torque applied. By doing so, a consistent, correct pressure on a bicycle tire by the resistance unit is achieved, thereby avoiding damage to the resistance unit and the bicycle tire and allowing a more consistent resistance unit power curve to be achieved.Type: GrantFiled: March 8, 2013Date of Patent: June 9, 2015Assignee: Saris Cycling Group, Inc.Inventors: Benjamin R. Bass, Mark A. Dahl, Randy J. Hilgart

Patent number: 8954474Abstract: A method of maintaining data described in a plurality of data models. An ontology is used to describe the data models. The data models are managed using the ontology and using a validation schema to validate object(s) governed by the ontology and derived from data-centric component(s) of content that has a semantically independent structure. Management of the data models is neutral relative to implementation of the content.Type: GrantFiled: April 21, 2008Date of Patent: February 10, 2015Assignee: The Boeing CompanyInventors: Mark A. Dahl, Edward J. Levinskas, Patrick L. Walsh, Russell G. Gianni, James G. Tanner, Roberto Aaron Vergaray

Patent number: 6929163Abstract: A universal mounting bracket for a bicycle rack includes a pair of upstanding members extending from opposite sides of a base member. Each upstanding member includes aligned pivot openings through which a pivot pin is positioned to pivotally secure an equipment carrier support member between the upstanding members. The upstanding members also each include two sets of auxiliary openings spaced from the pivot openings and from one another. Depending upon the particular configuration of the support member, each pair of aligned auxiliary openings can be utilized to lock the support member in a transport position, or to stop or maintain the support member in a non-use position.Type: GrantFiled: October 15, 2002Date of Patent: August 16, 2005Assignee: Saris Cycling Group, Inc.Inventors: Fabio Pedrini, Mark A. Patent number: 6616023Abstract: A stabilizing support for engaging an article such as a bicycle with a vehicle-mounted carrier which includes a rearwardly extending support member. The support generally includes a first support section having a recess within which a portion of the bicycle frame is received. The support further includes a stabilizer section which is pivotably mounted relative to the first support section. The stabilizer section includes a pair of legs which are spaced apart from each other to define an open area therebetween. The stabilizer section can be moved in either direction to various positions so as to receive and engage portions of the bicycle frame or other parts of the bicycle within the open area. The stabilizer section engages the bicycle at a location vertically offset from the location at which the bicycle frame is engaged with the first support section, to stabilize the bicycle.Type: GrantFiled: April 19, 2001Date of Patent: September 9, 2003Assignee: Graber Products, Inc.Inventors: Mark A. Dahl, Todd W. Lassanske

Patent number: 6602015Abstract: A removable bicycle beam for adapting a bicycle frame for engagement with a vehicle-mounted bicycle rack. The beam includes a pair of securing mechanisms disposed on opposite ends of a central body. Each securing mechanism includes a fixed arm fixedly secured to the central body and a pivoting arm pivotally secured to the central body. Each arm includes a gripping portion extending outwardly from the central body that cooperates with the gripping portion of the other arm to releasably encircle and engage a component of the bicycle, such as the handle bar stem or the seat post. The pivoting arm and fixed arm lie in a substantially horizontal plane when in a closed position, and the pivoting arm is movable in the horizontal plane toward and away from the fixed arm. Each pivoting arm can be locked in a closed, engaged position by one of a pair of releasable latch mechanisms disposed within the central body and engagable with the pivoting arms.Type: GrantFiled: August 1, 2001Date of Patent: August 5, 2003Assignee: Graber Products, Inc.Inventors: Matthew R. Patent number: 6330197Abstract: A random access memory (RAM) having N addressable storage locations is addressed by input data specifying a signal delay, and the RAM reads out control data controlling the delay of a delay circuit. A linearization system automatically adjusts the value of the control data stored at each of the RAM's N addresses so that the delay provided by the delay circuit is a linear function of the value of the input data. The linearization system provides two periodic reference signals (“beat” and “clock”) wherein the period PB of the beat signal and the period PC of the clock signal are related by the expression PB=PC(N+1)/N. The linearization system iteratively adjusts the control data stored at each RAM address so that when the RAM continuously reads out the control data stored at the Kth RAM address, the Kth edge of the beat signal and every Nth edge thereafter substantially coincides with an edge of the delay circuit output signal.Type: GrantFiled: July 31, 2000Date of Patent: December 11, 2001Assignee: Credence Systems CorporationInventors: Jeffrey D.
