    Abstract: A surface mounted CHIP antenna is provided for a wireless communications device such as a wireless modem, cellular telephone, personal digital assistant, etc. The antenna is mounted directly to the circuit board of the unit and exhibits electrical performance equivalent to a traditional external antenna. The antenna includes a conductive trace which is embedded or encapsulated in a high temperature, nonconductive dielectric material. One end of the trace has a transceiver circuit lead protruding therefrom which is soldered to the feed of the transceiver circuit. One or more ground plane leads protrude from the other end of the body member and are soldered to the ground plane. The ground plane lead is electrically insulated from the trace.

    Abstract: A method of protection in an electronic trip unit is described herein. The method includes selecting a limit value. The method further includes sensing an electrical signal to provide corresponding first and second sensed signals, each indicative of an electrical characteristic of the electrical signal. The first and second sensed signals are compared to determine a rate of rise of the electrical characteristic, and the rate of rise is compared to the limit value to detect a spike in the electrical characteristic. The generation of a trip signal is withheld when the rate of rise is greater than the limit value.

The current sensor (32) is electrically connected to the distribution circuit (10) and provides analog signals indicative of current measurements in the distribution circuit (10) to the A/D converter (34). The A/D converter (34) converts the analog signal to a digital line signal and presents the digital line signal, via a bus (38), to the microprocessor (36). The user-adjustable switch (30) is arranged to provide a signal indicative of a limit value, via a bus (40), to the microprocessor (36). The microprocessor (36) comprises a plurality of registers (42-48) and ROM (50) internal thereto. The ROM (50) includes trip unit application code, e.g., main functionality firmware, including initializing parameters, boot code, and a short circuit protection algorithm.

    Abstract: A resonant cavity is coupled in series with an output waveguide of a klystron in order to enhance power within an operating band of the klystron. The response characteristic of the resonant cavity enhances the power at certain frequencies within the operating band of the klystron, e.g., at the high or low ends of the operating band, by intentionally creating a power mismatch at these certain frequencies while providing minimal effect on the power at other frequencies of the band. The resonant cavity is inductively coupled to the output waveguide through an iris that sets the phase of the reflection by virtue of its location in relation to the klystron output gap and the magnitude of the reflection by virtue of its size. A tuning apparatus may also be used for tuning the resonant frequency of the resonant cavities. Plural resonant cavities may also be utilized to provide power mismatches at plural portions of the klystron operating band.

    Abstract: A method for reducing the movement of a rotor cage relative to a rotor core in a rotor assembly, such as found in a squirrel cage AC induction motor. Movement is reduced by forming a depression in a portion of a rotor bar of the rotor cage. Formation of the depression displaces rotor bar material adjacent to the depression. The displacement of rotor bar material deforms an adjacent portion of the rotor core thereby fixing the rotor cage to the rotor core. The reduction in movement between the rotor cage and the rotor core is dependent on various depression geometries, quantities and positions. The invention further includes a rotor assembly with a substantially cylindrical rotor core having longitudinally extending slots on its outer surface. A rotor bar is positioned in at least one of the slots.

    Abstract: In a modular tower building block system for containing computing system devices, an I/O bus is incorporated into the modular blocks of the building block system by using a printed circuit board to carry the I/O bus in each modular block. The printed circuit board is mounted and positioned in each modular block to electrically connect with a printed circuit board in a next adjacent modular block when two modular blocks are stacked on each other. Also, there are a plurality of I/O buses on the printed circuit boards and only one I/O bus is distributed from each modular block. The printed circuit board is precisely located in each modular block at a predetermined position. Alignment pins and receivers provide alignment between stacked modular blocks to precisely position one modular block to the other modular block. This also aligns electrical connectors on the printed circuit boards of the stacked blocks so that the connectors on the printed circuit boards from two blocks mate when the two blocks are stacked.

The bypass flow metering element is disposed between the inlet and outlet of the first canister and directs a predetermined portion of the vapor from the tank directly to the inlet of the second canister, thereby reducing the vapor flow restriction through the system.

    Abstract: A vibration damper for rotating members consists of a hub member joined to an inertia member by a plurality of elastic elements. Cooling fins on the inertia member and between the elastic element provide for dissipation of heat from the inertia member and the elastic elements. The cooling fins are parallel to the side surfaces of the insertia member. In an alternate embodiment, the cooling fins are angled to the side surfaces of the inertia member to augment the cooling effect of integral fins therein. In further alternate embodiments the hub member is bifurcated and the cooling fins and elastic member are oriented at angles to the axis of rotation of the hub.
