  • Patent number: 11544078
Abstract: Systems involving distributed control functions are described herein. Each member or device within the system has responsibility for controlling part of the system's behavior, and includes logic to determine what action, if any, will follow as a response to determining information or receiving information from other members or devices within the system. A change of status of one member of a system may provide a basis for action by another member of the system. Status may be the result of sensing a condition of the environment, sensing the condition of a component, receiving the output of a conventional sensor, and/or sensing the condition of a link between components. In some embodiments, action taken by a member of the system may include collecting data during law enforcement activities.

  • Publication number: 20220355855
Abstract: A system of an electric vehicle configured to compensate for spin of the electric vehicle that results from slipping of one or more wheels. A controller detects when one or more wheels are slipping and/or a spin (e.g., rotation) of the electric vehicle that results from a torsion force as a result of the slipping. The controller instructs the steering system to orient one or more of the wheels that are not slipping in a direction opposite the direction of rotation to attempt to reduce or eliminate rotation of the electric vehicle and/or to maintain the present direction of travel.

  • Publication number: 20220260959
Abstract: A vehicle includes a plurality of systems. Each system performs a function of the automobile. In an example embodiment, a plurality of system controllers, one for each system, controls the operation of the system. Each system controller controls how its corresponding system performs its function. When all system controllers are functional, a system controller generates control signals for its corresponding system. When one system controller ceased to operate, another system controller may control the system that corresponds to the failed system controller. Distributing control of systems among the various system controllers increases reliability.

  • Publication number: 20220258644
Abstract: A charging station for electric vehicles may be positioned in a remote location where it cannot communicate with the server that supports it. Data may be transferred between the charging station and the server by physically transporting data between the remote location and a location (e.g., first location) that provides access to a network that can communicate with the server. Vehicles, electric or conventional, may be used to physically transport the data between the remote location and the first location. The vehicles may wirelessly receive data from the server or the charging station, physically transport the data to the remote location or the first location respectively, then wirelessly transmit the data to the charging station or the server respectively. The server may use methods based on past travel or future travel to select a vehicle for physical transport of data.

  • Publication number: 20220260379
Abstract: A mobile vehicle may physically transport and subsequently wirelessly transmit data to remote equipment. Prior to transmitting the data, the mobile vehicle may identify road in range segments (“RIRSs”) to determine the likelihood that the transmission will be successful. RIRSs are the portions of the road traveled by the mobile vehicle in the proximity of the remote equipment where the mobile vehicle and the remote equipment can wirelessly communicate with each other. An RIRS is established where the transmission range of mobile vehicle overlaps the remote equipment and the transmission range of the remote equipment overlaps the road where the mobile vehicle travels. The distance of the RIRS may be used to determine a likelihood that the transmission will be successful. The mobile vehicle wirelessly transmits the data if the transmission will likely be successful. A probability factor may be applied to determine the likelihood of successful transmission.
