  • Patent number: 9215558
Abstract: A system on a vehicle is provided operable to notify a user if and when they are approaching a low digital radio signal area. The vehicle includes both the capability to receive digital and analog radio signals. The system further includes a processor and a data storage unit. If the digital signal drops below a certain predetermined threshold, the system will record the location of the low signal and will notify the user of the low signal next time the user is approaching the same area recorded by the GPS.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: November 1, 2012
Date of Patent: December 15, 2015
Assignee: Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing North America, Inc.
Inventors: Sean Lee Helm, Mark Jotanovic
  • Patent number: 9116782
Abstract: A system for a vehicle includes a vehicle support subsystem in communication with the GPS subsystem, the vehicle support subsystem operable in response to the GPS subsystem. The system can control a vehicle characteristic (e.g., tire inflation pressure, suspension system, suspension damping system, ride height adjustment system) based at least in part on terrain obtained from a global positioning system (GPS), current weather information, and/or historical weather information.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: October 17, 2012
Date of Patent: August 25, 2015
Assignee: Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing North America, Inc.

  • Publication number: 20130173097
Abstract: An intelligent driving range system for a vehicle for automatically communicating a one-way driving range or a two-way (i.e. round-trip) driving range to a user of the vehicle. The driving range system utilizes a processor for determining whether to select the one-way distance range or the two-way distance range for communication. The processor determines the current driving range and may interface with a vehicle positioning system or navigation components for determining the current location of the vehicle. Either the one-way driving range or the two-way driving range is selected and communicated to the user of the vehicle. The selection may be based upon the current location of the vehicle. The driving range may be communicated by displaying a range map, by displaying a visual notification, or by sounding an audible notification.

  • Publication number: 20130166096
Abstract: A predictive destination entry system for a vehicle navigation system to aid in obtaining a destination for the vehicle. The navigation system utilizes a memory for storing data relating to prior driving history or habits. A processor connected with the memory examines the information stored in the memory for making predictions for the current destination desired by a user of the vehicle. The information stored in the memory may be segregated into distinct user profiles and may include the vehicle location, previous driving history of the vehicle, previous searching history of a user of the vehicle, or sensory input relating to one or more characteristics of the vehicle. The navigation system may either confirm the predicted destination with the user of the vehicle before generating or displaying a travel route to the predicted destination or may automatically generate and display the travel route without verifying the destination with the user.
