    Abstract: An anti-backlash nut having a central bore therethrough, wherein a portion of the central bore is threaded to cooperatively engage a lead screw. A free floating insert is disposed in a radial aperture in the anti-backlash nut, such that a threaded inner surface of the insert contacts the lead screw. The threaded insert may be radially biased or offset such that the threads of the nut body and the threads of the insert engage opposing faces of the lead screw threads to provide accurate and reliable motion of the anti-backlash nut upon relative rotation of the lead screw.
