  • Publication number: 20100306055
Abstract: Software applications may include many types of sponsorship-related features, such as integrated advertisements displayed to users and captchas that improve advertisement targeting by distinguishing human users vs. automated processes. However, these techniques may consume developers' efforts and creativity, and, if not well-integrated in the application, may annoy or distract users. As an alternative technique, an advertisement may be programmatically analyzed to generate a challenge and a solution. The challenge and an input component may be integrated into the application; a user's challenge response may be automatically compared with the solution; and a reward may be presented for satisfactory input. This automated technique may better integrate advertisements with the application and may improve the effectiveness of the advertising, while also reducing the amount of developer effort and creativity expended on the advertisement integration.
