  • Patent number: 5507559
Abstract: A lumbar support subassembly is disclosed including a support band extending across a seat back rest, the lumbar support band being releasably connectable at both ends, and relatively movable between a number of positions, including a position in which the support band can be separated from the seat back rest in a mounted position, and the effective length of the band can be varied by a motor whereby one end of the band can be moved with respect to the other end.

  • Patent number: 5482353
Abstract: There is disclosed a lumbar support mechanism for a seat having a bracket adapted to be fixed on one side frame of a seat, a waistband adapted to extend across the seat between the bracket and the other side frame of the seat behind cushioning material of the seat, said bracket including an adjustment device to either alter the distance between the ends of a fixed length waistband or to alter the length of a portion of the waistband extending between the bracket and the other side frame of the seat which includes the improvement of providing a friction reducing device between the cushioning material of the seat and the waistband which friction reducing device extends from the bracket towards the other side frame of the seat.

  • Patent number: 5097991
Abstract: A metering dispenser for spirits or other potable liquids has an upper portion for reception of an inverted bottle, with an inlet passage leading to a valved metering chamber. A spool valve is positioned in the metering chamber and has a rod extending therefrom having a core of magnetized stainless steel to serve as the valve actuator controlled by a surrounding solenoid coil which is electrically energized to operate the dispenser. At least one channel is provided on or in the rod to allow the dispensed liquid to flow along the rod.

  • Patent number: 4709651
Abstract: A whistle having two chambers of different size so that each is capable of generating a sound different to that generated by the other. Each chamber is elongate and has an open mouth located at the same end of the whistle body. A mouthpiece extends angularly from that end of the body and has two open-ended passages extending therethrough, each of which has an open inner end located adjacent a respective one of the chamber mouths. The two passages are located in close side by side relationship and are arranged so that a stream of air emerging from their respective inner ends passes across a respective one of the two chamber mouths so that the two chambers generate sound simultaneously. The two chambers generate relatively high and low frequency sound respectively.

  • Patent number: 4687480
Abstract: A device for the sustained release of into the rumen of a ruminant animal has an elongate, tubular body for housing a therapeutic or nutrient composition. Wings are pivotably attached to one end of the body member and are resumably biased away from a storage position, in which they extend along body member, an operative position. In the operative position, the wings are at a pre-determined angle to the longitudinal extent of the body member and are constrained from pivoting beyond this angle.

  • Patent number: 4662040
Abstract: A strap buckle having male and female components which are connected to respective opposite ends of a strap and which have cooperative and releasable latching means whereby the two components are releasably held against separation. The strap is connected to the male component through connecting means arranged to permit adjustment of the effective length of the strap so that the strap can be extended or shortened as required, and in use that connecting means normally locks the strap against extension. The female component includes a strap reacting section which overlies the connecting means of the male component when the two components are connected together and thereby prevents the strap from being manipulated such as to release it from the locking influence of the connecting means. The male component has three laterally spaced arms which locate within the female component, and guard means is provided on one or more of those arms to prevent incorrect or incomplete cooperation of the two components.

  • Patent number: 4562626
Abstract: A snap fastener and method of attaching the same to a section of sheet material are disclosed. The snap fastener comprises an operative component and a securing component, both of these components being formed of plastics material. The operative component has a base wall with an opening therethrough and a tubular portion including a snap engaging portion formed thereon surrounds the opening and projects from one side of the base wall. The securing component has a pin and a cap flange at one end thereof, the pin being adapted to pass through the opening of the operative component so that the terminal end portion of the pin is located beyond the side of the base wall from which the tubular portion projects. The terminal end portion of the pin is deformable when so located relative to the operative component so as to secure the two components against separation. At least a peripheral portion of the cap flange slopes outwardly in a direction towards the terminal end of the pin.

  • Patent number: 4343066
Abstract: The invention relates particularly to clamps for closing the weasands of slaughtered animals such as sheep and cattle and consisting of a base member and a strap member for clamping the weasand against the base member, the base member having an intermediate or middle part which is of arcuate shape in transverse cross-section--that is to say, in a direction transverse to the longitudinal direction of the weasand to be closed--and tapering or inclined forwardly in that longitudinal direction, and the strap member having means for securing its outer or free end to the base so as to grip a weasand tightly against the arcuately shaped middle part of the base and thereby inhibit the flow of ingesta.
