Publication number: 20240154418Abstract: Disclosed techniques relate to orchestrating power consumption reductions across a number of hosts. A number of response levels may be utilized, each having an association to a corresponding set of reduction actions. The impact to customers, hosts, and/or workloads can be computed at run time based on current and/or predicted conditions and workloads, and a particular response level can be selected based on the computed impact. These techniques enable a sufficient, but least impactful response to be employed.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 21, 2023Publication date: May 9, 2024Applicant: Oracle International CorporationInventors: Roy Mehdi Zeighami, Sumeet Kochar, Jonathan Luke Herman, Mark Lee Huang

Publication number: 20240154415Abstract: Disclosed techniques relate to orchestrating power consumption reductions across a number of hosts. A current value for an aggregate power threshold of a plurality of hosts may be identified. During a first time period, an aggregate power consumption of the plurality of hosts may be managed using the current value for the aggregate power threshold. A triggering event indicating a modification to the aggregate power threshold is needed may be detected. A new value for the aggregate power threshold may be determined based on the triggering event. During a second time period, the aggregate power consumption of the plurality of hosts may be managed using the new value for the aggregate power threshold.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 21, 2023Publication date: May 9, 2024Applicant: Oracle International CorporationInventors: Roy Mehdi Zeighami, Sumeet Kochar, Jonathan Luke Herman, Mark Lee Huang

Publication number: 20240154417Abstract: Disclosed techniques relate to orchestrating power consumption reductions across a number of hosts. Power consumption of power-drawing devices (e.g., hosts, servers, etc.) may be monitored with respect to a power threshold. When the current power consumption corresponding to those devices breaches the power threshold, or at any suitable time, the system may identify a set of reduction actions configured to reduce aggregate power consumption. The power threshold may be updated dynamically based on the operational status of related systems and environmental factors. A number of response levels may be utilized, each having an association to a corresponding set of reduction actions. The impact to customers, hosts, and/or workloads can be computed at run time based on current conditions and workloads, and a particular response level can be selected based on the computed impact. These techniques enable a sufficient, but least impactful response to be employed.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 21, 2023Publication date: May 9, 2024Applicant: Oracle International CorporationInventors: Roy Mehdi Zeighami, Sumeet Kochar, Jonathan Luke Herman, Mark Lee Huang

Publication number: 20240152319Abstract: Systems and methods for providing supplemental information with a response to a command are provided herein. In some embodiments, audio data representing a spoken command may be received by a cloud-based information system. A response to the command may be retrieved from a category related to the context of the command. A supplemental information database may also be provided that is pre-populated with supplemental information related to an individual having a registered account on the cloud-based information system. In response to retrieving the response to the command, supplemental information may be selected from the supplemental information database to be appended to the response to the command. A message may then be generated including the response and the supplemental information appended thereto, which in turn may be converted into audio data representing the message, which may be sent to a voice-controlled electronic device of the individual.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 16, 2023Publication date: May 9, 2024Inventors: Srikanth Doss Kadarundalagi Raghuram Doss, Jeffery David Wells, Richard Dault, Benjamin Joseph Tobin, Mark Douglas Elders, Stanislava R. Publication number: 20240146546Abstract: An asymmetric key cryptographic system is used to generate a cryptographic certificate for authenticating a memory module. This certificate is generated based on information, readable by the authenticator (e.g., host system), from at least one device on the memory module that is not read in order to obtain the certificate. For example, the certificate for authenticating a module may be stored in the nonvolatile memory of a serial presence detect device. The certificate itself, however, is based at least in part on information read from at least one other device on the memory module. Examples of this other device include a registering clock driver, DRAM device(s), and/or data buffer device(s). In an embodiment, the information read from a device (e.g., DRAM) may be based on one or more device fingerprint(s) derived from physical variations that occur naturally, and inevitably, during integrated circuit manufacturing.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 25, 2022Publication date: May 2, 2024Inventors: Scott C. Patent number: 11971285Abstract: Techniques detect a low gas-pressure condition within a region without the use of pressure sensors. In an example, gas usage at a service site is disaggregated to show use by individual appliances. A flowrate of gas at an appliance (e.g., a gas hot water tank) having a generally fixed-rate of gas-consumption is determined. Based at least in part on the flowrate of gas at the appliance, and an historical gas flowrate at that appliance, it is determined if gas pressure at the service site is lower than expected. In an example, failure of the appliance to use its typical fixed-flowrate may indicate low gas pressure at the service site. Information is obtained from a second gas meter at a second service site. Based on the gas pressure at the first and second service sites being lower than expected, a low gas pressure situation may exist in a regional area.Type: GrantFiled: December 18, 2020Date of Patent: April 30, 2024Assignee: Itron, Inc.Inventors: Mark K. Cornwall, James Lee Kann, Peter Clevenger

Patent number: 11971291Abstract: Techniques for using data indicating if a gas regulator supplying gas at a regulated pressure to a gas meter (e.g., the gas meter of a house or business) within a gas distribution system has one or more lock-up failure events or venting events, wherein gas is vented to the atmosphere. The data may identify the identity of gas regulators at which the lock-up failure events or venting events occurred. Based at least in part on the identified gas regulators, a number of gas regulators having at least one of lock-up failure events or venting events that are connected to a same gas supply line may be identified. If the number of gas regulators having at least one of lock-up failure events or venting events on the identified gas supply line exceeds a threshold number this may indicate the presence of debris in the gas supply. Remedial steps may be taken, and the situation may be monitored and reassessed.Type: GrantFiled: December 18, 2020Date of Patent: April 30, 2024Assignee: ITRON, INC.Inventors: Mark K. Cornwall, James Lee Kann, Peter Clevenger

Patent number: 11973831Abstract: Techniques determine if an appliance having a fixed-rate of gas-consumption is degrading over time. In one example, a flowrate of gas at a service site is obtained. The flowrate of gas is disaggregated to obtain a flowrate of gas corresponding to an appliance having a generally fixed-rate of gas-consumption. The flowrate of gas of the appliance is compared to historical gas consumption by the appliance. Based at least in part on the comparing, it may be determined that performance of the appliance has changed over time. For example, the gas consumption of a hot water tank may increase due to mineral build-up in the bottom of the tank. Responsive to the determined degradation of the appliance, warnings may be sent, repairs may be made, and/or appliance(s) may be replaced.Type: GrantFiled: February 27, 2023Date of Patent: April 30, 2024Assignee: ITRON, INC.Inventors: Mark K. Cornwall, James Lee Kann, Peter Clevenger
