Publication number: 20070239560Abstract: A competitive environment in which merchants compete for sales in a reverse auction format in which there are many sellers and a single buyer is disclosed. Merchants purchase prominent placement on product search results lists based on a negotiable per-sale fee. A customer discount is derived from the per-sale fee negotiated with each merchant. The customer discount may be shared with customers by subtracting the customer discount from a merchant market price. The result is a final customer price that determines the merchant's position in the product search results list. Merchants having the lowest final customer price are placed at the top of the search results list, while merchants having higher final customer prices are placed further down the list. Merchants may influence their position on the search results list by agreeing to pay a different amount for each sale.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 6, 2006Publication date: October 11, 2007Inventors: Mark McGuire, Brian Wiegand

Publication number: 20050031672Abstract: It is described a process to obtain increased milk production and/or greater milk protein concentration using supplements with a fatty acid mixture or through production of specific fatty acids within the animal. The process or the supplementation of the product described in this invention (supplements formulated with fatty acids mixtures and with adequate levels of metabolizable protein) allows greater efficiency and/or better quality and/or a healthier mammal with improved productivity. The process includes supplementation of specific types of fatty acids with or without ruminal protection to ruminants and, generally, a diet with metabolizable protein energy ratio greater than the one suggested by the state of the art. The process may include the production of the said compounds (conjugated fatty acids) on the animal itself from fat, certain compounds and microorganisms added to the diet capable of modifying the environment of the gut.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 9, 2002Publication date: February 10, 2005Inventors: Dante Duarte Lanna, Mark McGuire, Sergio de Medeiros, Dimas de Oliveira, Luis Aroeira

Patent number: 6735169Abstract: A system and method are disclosed for providing a plurality of network services. The method includes receiving at a forwarding agent a plurality of matching instructions corresponding to a specified flow from one or more service managers and storing the plurality of matching instructions on the forwarding agent having a forwarding agent network interface. A packet for the specified flow at the forwarding agent is received on the forwarding agent network interface. A highest service priority matching instruction stored on the forwarding agent is determined. The packet is processed according to the highest priority matching instruction. A next highest service priority matching instruction stored on the forwarding agent is determined and the packet is processed according to the next highest service priority matching instruction.Type: GrantFiled: July 2, 1999Date of Patent: May 11, 2004Assignee: Cisco Technology, Inc.Inventors: Mark Albert, Richard A. Patent number: 6288114Abstract: The present invention alters mammary synthesis of fat to improve milk quality. These changes in milk composition represent improvements in nutritional quality consistent with contemporary dietary recommendations. Of special importance is the disclosure of new data relating to specific conjugated linoleic acids (CLA), potent naturally occurring anti-carcinogens. In the course of an investigation to enhance milk content of conjugated linoleic acid, it was discovered that abomasal infusion of a single TFA isomer caused a marked milk fat depression. This observation was unexpected because the prior art has consistently shown that body fat and milk fat always show reciprocal changes in lactating cows and indicated that CLA's generally reduced body fat in growing animals. The current disclosure demonstrates that an increase in milk fat content of a specific TFA isomer, trans-10 C18:1. (Griinari et al., 1997, 1998) causes MFD.Type: GrantFiled: June 23, 1998Date of Patent: September 11, 2001Assignee: Cornell Research Foundation, Inc.Inventors: Dale E. Bauman, Mark A. Patent number: 5564703Abstract: The invention is to a puzzle toy which includes a solid body having a plurality of bore holes extending completely through the solid body such that each bore hole extends between two faces of the solid body. Some of the bore holes intersect with other bore holes such that pins inserted into the bore holes would interfere with at least one other pin in a bore hole. Some of the pins have at least one notch along its length to allow an interfering pin to partially pass through without interference. Each pin extends through a slide that moves the pin to one side after it is removed from its respective hole.Type: GrantFiled: October 23, 1995Date of Patent: October 15, 1996Inventor: Mark A.
