    Abstract: A method, apparatus and article of manufacture for processing entity beans in relational database environments. One embodiment provides a method for persisting data from an entity bean in a relational database. The entity bean has a plurality of attributes. At least a portion of the plurality of attributes is associated with one or more dependent value objects. The method comprises determining a dependent value object level of the entity bean defining mapped data attributes from a dependent value object of the plurality of attributes, mapping the mapped data attributes from the dependent value object into a plurality of columns of a row in a table of the relational database, and streaming all remaining attributes from the dependent value object to a separate column of the table.
