  • Patent number: 8032100
Abstract: A system and method for communicating a plurality of carrier waves that are received by a single receiver system is provided. The receiver system includes at least one antenna, at least one splitter, a plurality of tuners, and at least one combiner. The antenna receives a plurality of carrier waves. The splitter is in communication with the antenna, and splits the plurality of carrier waves. The plurality of tuners are in communication with the at least one splitter, and the split carrier waves are communicated to a separate tuner. The at least one combiner is in communication with the plurality of tuners, and combines an output of the plurality of tuners to generate an output based upon at least a portion of the received plurality of carrier waves.

  • Patent number: 7907939
Abstract: A system is provided for delivery of services to at least one mobile device adapted to communicate in a wireless manner including a plurality of communication/detection devices. Each of the communication/detection devices is adapted to detect the presence of the mobile device when the mobile device is within the range thereof. Each communication/detection device is adapted to communicate information between the mobile device and the communication/detection device when the mobile device is within the range thereof. The system includes at least one multiplexer in communication with at least one of the communication/detection devices and at least one server including content stored thereon to provide at least one service to the client program on mobile device. The server is in communication with the multiplexer. The service to be provided to the mobile device depends on which one of the plurality of communication/detection devices is in communication with the mobile device.

  • Patent number: 7606327
Abstract: A receiver is disclosed. The receiver includes a first antenna, a second antenna, a system controller, a national broadcast demodulator, a local broadcast demodulator, and an information output select device. The first antenna for receives a signal from a satellite that contains information of national interest. The second antenna receives a signal from a land-based transmitter that contains information of local interest. The national broadcast demodulator is coupled to the first antenna and the system controller. The national broadcast demodulator provides a first interrupt indicator to the system controller. The local broadcast demodulator is coupled to the second antenna and the system controller. The local broadcast demodulator provides a second interrupt indicator to the system controller.

  • Patent number: 7474264
Abstract: A system and method are provided for detecting use of RF transmit devices (e.g., cellular phones) in a vehicle. The system includes a first RF antenna for detecting signal strength of an RF signals transmit device at a first location in a vehicle and a power first detector for generating a first output signal indicative thereof. The system also includes a second antenna for detecting signal strength of the RF signals at a second location in the vehicle and a second power detector for generating a second output signal indicative thereof. The system further includes a signal processor for processing the first and second output signals to determine the presence of an RF transmit device in use in the vehicle and to further determine the location of the RF transmit device to determine if a driver is using the device.

  • Patent number: 5636575
Abstract: A retarder apparatus controls the speed of a free, load-carrying conveyor as it moves in a predetermined direction along a path of travel defined by the track in which the conveyor runs. Paddle members are spaced at regular intervals along an endless movable chain and each, in turn, is positioned in the track in the path of the next conveyor. Upon engagement of an individual paddle by an oncoming conveyor, the chain is instantly accelerated to the speed of the conveyor and this motion is transmitted through a chain sprocket to a centrifugal brake which, if a normal speed is being exceeded, limits the speed of movement of the chain to hold back a runaway conveyor and return it to the normal speed.

  • Patent number: 5511486
Abstract: The trailing, load supporting component of a product conveyor is connected to a powered, leading component by a shock absorbing tow bar that employs a dampener tube in which a plunger moves against the resistance of a sleeve of resilient material. The head of the plunger is oversized with respect to a passageway defined by the sleeve and thus is forced to compress and displace the resilient material in order to move relative to the passageway in response to an impact caused by rapid acceleration or deceleration of the conveyor. Compression and displacement of the material occurs at a zone of contact of the head with the material, the head shifting the zone of contact and compressing and displacing the material in response to the impact communicated to the tow bar. A protective sleeve shields an exposed plunger rod from contaminants and enhances the structural integrity of the assembly.
