  • Publication number: 20140012917
Abstract: Embodiments of techniques and systems for sharing user information between proximate devices are described. In embodiments, a first device may identify a physically-proximate device that may receive user information. Upon receiving an indication that a user of the first device may desire to share user information with a user of the second device, a determination may be made as to whether the two users have matching interests. In embodiments, the interest match determination may be made by a separate interest match evaluator. Upon determination of an interest match, the first device may then send a request to share user information to the second device. If a user of the second device approves the request, user information for the user of the first device may be shared with the user of the second device. Other embodiments may be described and claimed.

  • Publication number: 20130230354
Abstract: In various embodiments, a multi-application apparatus may be configured to be mounted on a vehicle. The multi-application apparatus may include a sprayer configured to apply a profileable material to an area of a driving surface during a pass of the vehicle by the area to create a first marking. The multi-application apparatus may also include an applicator configured to apply the profileable material to at least a portion of the area of the driving surface during the same pass of the vehicle by the area to create a second marking. The second marking may have a more varied profile than the first marking. In various embodiments, the multi-application apparatus may include controls that enable independent control of various parameters during operation. In various embodiments, profileable material forming the second marking is at least partially fused with the profileable material forming the first marking.

  • Publication number: 20130116486
Abstract: The invention relates to a retarder composition for the control of unwanted polymerisation reactions during the production and processing of ethylenically unsaturated compounds, the composition comprising at least one di-substituted quinone compound and at least one hydroxylamine compound. Optionally, the composition also comprises at least one stable free radical nitroxyl compound and one or more formulation adjuvants. The invention also envisages a process stream comprising at least one ethylenically unsaturated compound, and a method for the prevention of unwanted polymerisation reactions during the production and processing of ethylenically unsaturated compounds. The composition has been found to be far more effective than expected, given that the individual components show little or no efficacy when used alone, and poses much less hazard to humans than the compositions of the prior art.

  • Publication number: 20120173218
Abstract: A method and system dynamically generates virtualized configurations of sensors and signals used in drilling system equipment. The virtualized configurations may be used for novel operational testing of automation systems on drilling rigs. The methods and systems may be configured to virtualize actual drill floor equipment in order to have enhanced fault coverage of the automation systems. A control network that is a component of the automation systems may implement a testing loop that accommodates virtualized equipment in a manner substantially similar to actual equipment. In this manner, the testing loop may be configured to control elements specific to the equipment under control, and generate testing results for those specific control elements.

  • Patent number: 7325048
Abstract: A method for automatically creating a modem interface on a computer device for use with a wireless device. The method of the present invention creates a modem interface without requiring the user to execute a standard operating system's manual modem installation procedure. The modem interface can then be used as a standard interface to a wireless device. This allows existing software to be used in conjunction with the wireless device connected to the modem interface.

  • Patent number: 7285122
Abstract: A method of resecting a proximal tibia and distal femur for implanting a partial knee prosthesis uses a resecting kit which includes multiple spacers, each of which has a different spacing dimension. A surgeon selects the appropriate spacer with the amount of correction desired to align the patient's leg and installs the spacer with the spacing dimension between the distal femur and proximal tibia which is to receive the partial knee prosthesis. The spacers have projecting stems, upon which a resector is installed. The resector is then aligned with the axis selected by the surgeon according to known methods, and is pinned to the femur and proximal tibia. A distal femoral cut is then made in the femur after which the resector is removed while leaving at least two of the pins in place, the pins being headless pins. A second resector is then installed on the pins to effect the required cut of the tibia.

  • Patent number: 7234744
Abstract: An end effector (10) for an industrial robot has the ability to pick up plural objects, selectively rotate same and adjusts the spacing between the plural objects as the products are being carried by the robot to a desired deposit location. This functionality is achieved by locating a rotary actuator (16) at the end (8) of a robot arm and providing a lazy tong linkage assembly (60) to which plural product graspers (62) are affixed where the lazy tong assembly is carried by a rotatable platform (18) of the rotary actuator. The rotary actuator, the lazy tong assembly and the product graspers are preferably pneumatically actuated.

  • Patent number: 6435332
Abstract: A conveyor module adapted to receive products thereon for translating and simultaneously rotating the product 90° in going from its infeed end to its outfeed end. An endless chain is deployed about spaced-apart sprocket wheels, one at the infeed end and one at the outfeed end and a plurality of product support plates are linked to the chain by a coupler that permits rotation of the support plate about an axis that is perpendicular to the support plate. The support plate carries a cam follower that is adapted to engage a cam track that is configured to impart the 90° rotation to the support plate as the endless chain carries the support plate between the infeed end and the outfeed end.

  • Patent number: 6098284
Abstract: Disclosed is a method of releasably attaching a ribbon cable to a hardware device. In one embodiment, the method comprises attaching the ribbon cable to a ribbon cable connector having an internal retaining mechanism, coupling the ribbon cable connector to a mating connector on the hardware device, and actuating the internal retaining mechanism so that the internal retaining mechanism engages the mating connector to thereby inhibit the mating connector from uncoupling from the hardware device. The method allows a user to easily and securely attach a ribbon cable to a hardware device.
