    Abstract: The foregoing roaming scenarios are summarized in the Table given below. In accordance with the teachings of the present invention, a method and apparatus is presented for distinguishing between priority services. A new parameter is defined in an update location message. The new parameter enables an MSC/VLR to recognize and distinguish priority services. For example, the new parameter is used to distinguish eMLPP priority service from WPS priority service. In addition, the HLR will send a new parameter in the ISD message to distinguish which priority service subscription is applicable.
