Each channel is managed separately using its own object, and each channel has unique access protection through the object handles. Within device driver (104), the simplex channel interfaces are kept separate and functional separation of the data and command memory is maintained to provide fail-safe data isolation.

    Abstract: A system for selectively providing power from a power source to a load to operate in an area for at least one occupant comprising a processing device for controlling the opening and closing of a relay connected between the load and the power source for energizing the load, and a sensor for detecting the presence of an occupant in the area. The processing device is programmable to close the relay in response to an output signal from the sensor for a period of time that can be of fixed duration, or a duration that is dynamically and automatically determined using sensor data relating to measure time between successive, detected occupant movements. In addition to a daylight inhibit function, the system is provided with color indicators and a tone generator to indicate various operating conditions and to guide a user entering selected system parameters, among other features.

    Abstract: A safety belt tensioner is provided for pulling a buckle part to tighten a safety belt system about an occupant. The tensioner includes a flexible member or cable having a first loop connected to the buckle part which pulls the buckle part when it is shortened, as by actuation of a power operated device such as a piston-cylinder device. To shorten the piston stroke while achieving the necessary displacement of the buckle part, the flexible member is provided with a second loop connected to the piston about a turning member thereof with one end of an anchored half of the second loop secured to a stationary part of the pretensioner, and the other loop half extending from the cylinder and connected to the portion of the flexible cable member for the buckle part. This provides about a 1:1 ratio between the length of piston travel and downward travel of the buckle part to minimize the piston travel to allow the length of the cylinder to be shorter for providing a more compact pretensioner.

In a preferred embodiment, a retriggerable timer is activated by a ring detector circuit. After the timer tines out, if a hook detector circuit detects the telephone transmission line is in an on-hook condition, the local computer dial out is initiated.

    Abstract: A process for preparing liquid personal cleansing compositions which provides enhanced perfume deposition on the skin and which provides increased on-skin fragrance longevity. The liquid personal cleansing compositions contain from about 0.01% to about 5% of a cationic polymer; from about 1% to about 80% of an anionic surfactant; from about 0.01% to about 5% of a volatile perfume; and water. The ratio of the cationic polymer to the anionic surfactant ranges from about 1:100 to about 1:2. The process involves first forming a premix comprising the cationic polymer, the volatile perfume and water, and then adding the premix to a personal cleansing base composition which comprises anionic surfactant and water.

    Abstract: A power supply circuit is provided for use in combination with a load and an alternating current (AC) power source for selectively connecting and disconnecting the load and the AC power source. The load is connected between a neutral conductor of the AC power source and the power supply circuit. The power supply circuit is connected to a power or hot line conductor and a ground conductor of the AC power source. The power supply circuit comprises relay connected in series between the load and the line conductor; a control circuit for selectively operating the relay; and a transformer. The primary winding of the transformer is connected in series with the line conductor and the ground conductor for supplying power to the control circuit even when the load is disconnected from the AC power source. The power supply circuit comprises a switch in series with the primary winding of the potential transformer for interrupting the primary winding current at frequencies above the AC line frequency.

    Abstract: A packer or bridge plug design is revealed that has a lock mechanism involving the interengagement of teeth. The meshing of the teeth holds the set of the sealing elements and slips of the packer or bridge plug. Release is accomplished by an application of weight which, due to relative movement of parts, allows the stress applied to the slips and sealing element to be relieved with the interengaging teeth of the lock mechanism still in place. Upon stress relief as to the slips and sealing elements, further movement cams the locking member in a manner so as to separate the interengagement of the teeth, thus completing the release. The stress-relief mechanism and the lock mechanism are part of a compact assembly which is preferably mounted above the packer or bridge plug for easy access. A pressure equalization technique involves discrete operation of an equalizing sleeve followed by at least one opposed motion before a release sleeve can be tagged for removing the plug.
