  • Publication number: 20210108320
Abstract: The embodiments herein relate to methods, apparatus, and systems for forming and purifying solid carbon material from a molten carbonate salt electrolyte. Various embodiments also provide methods, apparatus, and systems for recycling certain materials including the carbonate salt electrolyte, carbon dioxide, water, etc. Advantageously, the system utilizes carbon dioxide in one or more processes, for example to purify the solid carbon and regenerate the carbonate salt electrolyte. These methods, apparatus, and systems provide an efficient technique to consume carbon dioxide in the production of solid carbon, with substantial advantages over systems that attempt to form solid carbon from a stream of carbon dioxide provided directly to an electrolysis reactor.
    Type: Application
    Filed: December 15, 2020
    Publication date: April 15, 2021
Inventors: Drew Lawrence Reid, Benjamin Mark Rush, Daniel Ricardo Ahumada, Kenneth Reid

  • Patent number: 9743862
Abstract: Systems and methods for transcutaneously implanting medical devices, such as in vivo analyte sensors, are provided. The systems and methods involve the use of introducers or inserters made of shape memory alloy (SMA) materials which are transitionable from one operative state or configuration to another operative state or configuration, wherein the transition from state to state enables the transcutaneous implantation and/or transcutaneous explantation of the medical device.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: March 29, 2012
Date of Patent: August 29, 2017
    Assignee: ABBOTT DIABETES CARE INC.
Inventors: Gary Ashley Stafford, Benjamin Mark Rush
  • Publication number: 20130282301
Abstract: Methods and devices to generate a tool for testing, simulating and/or modifying a closed loop control algorithm are provided. Embodiments include receiving glucose data for a predetermined time period, determining a variation in the glucose level based on the received glucose data, filtering a received glucose data based on the determined variation, substituting a negative change in the glucose data value with a predetermined value to generate a sequence of modified glucose values, and integrating the sequence of modified glucose values to determine an uncontrolled blood glucose excursion condition.

  • Patent number: 7361823
Abstract: A drum of the invention has a tubular drum shell, a replaceable annular bearing edge, a spline interconnecting the shell and the bearing edge, and a membrane overlaying the bearing edge. The bearing edge may have any of various profile configurations. The bearing edge overlays a shell edge in releasable engagement. A spline extends from the bearing edge and engages a recess, including an annular rabbet between the wall edge and an inside wall surface, or an annular void, including an annular slot dado, in the shell wall, releasably coupling the bearing edge and the shell. The shell may include an aperture through the wall. An air valve may be provided to regulate passage of air through the aperture between open and closed positions. The air valve may support an audio reception device. A portion of the inside wall surface may have an acoustic pattern that influences the drum's sound. The drum may also have a flangeless hoop or arcuate portions of the hoop without a flange.
