  • Publication number: 20030206992
Abstract: The present invention is directed towards the hybrid combination of a drop gate injection molding system and a lattice gate. The lattice gate is located prior to the orifice of the drop gate. The lattice gate is comprised of a series of cross-direction flow channels through which the rubber flows, with mixing of the rubbers at the intersections of the flow channels. This hybrid molding system permits shorter cure times, and improved process cycle time for curing rubbers.

  • Patent number: 6470558
Abstract: A method of facing a substrate comprises the steps of first welding a body of a hard facing material to the substrate and then filling a space around the body with a molten metal. The method can be used in the hard facing of metal components with, for example, hard facing materials such as tungsten carbide. The substrate can comprise a metal surface, which can, for example, be the surface of any suitable component, tool, or implement subject to wear in use. The method is particularly suitable for hard facing the wear surfaces of components for use in drill strings in down-hole drilling technology, for example, drill stabilizers.

  • Publication number: 20020131428
Abstract: An edge node that receives both live and not live content from a network operation center (“NOC”) and makes it available to end users via a last mile service provider. The NOC additionally includes storage for received content, a private VLAN, and a public VLAN. The edge node can simultaneously serve live and not live content. • Patent number: 6426663
Abstract: An analog signal gain circuit includes an input receiving an analog input signal defined by an ac signal component due to a driving force and a dc offset component independent of the driving force and an output providing an analog output signal defined by an amplified representation of the analog input signal and a dc offset component corresponding to a reference signal. A digital/analog feedback circuit includes a comparator having the reference signal as a switching threshold connected to an up/down counter having a number of digital outputs. The outputs of the up/down counter are connected to a D/A converter which converts the digital count to an analog feedback signal. The feedback signal is provided to the input of the analog signal gain circuit to minimize variations in the dc offset signal component of the analog output signal by compensating for the dc offset signal component of the analog input signal.

  • Patent number: 6384841
Abstract: The present invention provides a computer system with an improved graphically-oriented user interface that permits the user to more easily select for manipulation one object from a number of objects that overlap or are in close proximity to one another at a common location in a graphic display. In a preferred embodiment, the invention presents the computer user with the opportunity to preview all possible objects that the cursor might be identifying at its current position and the ability to select one of those objects for manipulation. Thus, rather than cycling through the entire list of objects available for selection at a location in the display, the user can immediately narrow the list down to the desired selection only. The present invention prevents selection errors and drastically reduces the number of user inputs required to select an object.

  • Patent number: 6194941
Abstract: A DC offset compensation circuit (34) for compensating for a DC offset voltage of a signal amplifier (24) includes a first sample and hold circuit (40) having an input receiving an amplifier output signal (VOUT2) and an output supplying the sampled and held output signal (VOUT2) to a non-inverting input of a comparator 42. A first digital-to-analog (D/A) circuit (46) is responsive to a number of digital input signals to produce an analog DC target signal at an output (VD) thereof. The analog DC target signal is provided to an input of a second sample and hold circuit (50) having an output supplying the sampled and held analog DC target signal to an inverting input of the comparator 42. The output of the comparator 42 is provided to an offset cancellation control circuit (56) including a state machine (66) and a counter circuit (68) operable to modify a count value (OFFDAC) thereof depending upon statuses of a number of input control signals (CLK1, CLK2, STRT, STP) and the comparator output signal (CO).

  • Patent number: 6113643
Abstract: A computer based system and method for designing an automotive vehicle based on occupant vision orients an occupant representation, in electronic form, with respect to a three-dimensional electronic representation of a portion of the vehicle. At least one vehicle system is represented, also in electronic form, with respect to a common reference point, at least one human factors vision study is electronically performed to determine occupant vision with at least one vehicle system, and an outcome of that study is reported to a vehicle designer. The designer then has an option to vary, or alter, the occupant orientation, the location of the vehicle system, or both, so that the design meets a predetermined vision criteria of the study. However, the designer may opt to retain the design despite non-compliance with the vision criteria.
