  • Publication number: 20150089733
Abstract: Apparatuses for removing excess water from a swimming pool, including a device that measures the level of water in a tank that corresponds to water in a swimming pool. Upon the water level rising above a predetermined maximum amount, a switch in the tank actuates a pump located in the tank and water is pumped from the pool to either be stored or removed from the property containing the swimming pool. Upon water dropping below the predetermined maximum amount the switch deactivates the pump.

  • Patent number: 6188821
Abstract: Apparatus and method for making a self-supporting type fiber optic cable (10) having a messenger section (12) and a core section (14) connected by a web (18). An exemplary apparatus (20) includes a cable core tensioning apparatus (30), a messenger wire tensioning apparatus (40), and a cable tensioning apparatus (60). The cable tensioning apparatus (60) includes a messenger tensioner (61) having a profile with a tensioning recess (62) and a clearance recess (64). The tensioning recess (62) being operative to grip and to thereby apply tension to the messenger section (12), and the clearance recess (64) essentially frictionlessly accommodating the formation of undulations in the core section (14). In an exemplary method the undulations are formed in the core section as the cable progresses through tensioning apparatus (60) by maintaining an essentially decoupled relationship between the core section (14) and the clearance section (64) of the tensioning apparatus (60).

  • Patent number: 5312499
Abstract: Disclosed is an apparatus and method for making a loose tube buffered optical fiber, the apparatus comprising an extrusion crosshead having an inlet and exit port connecting a plastic flow passageway circumscribing another passageway in which there is disposed a grease injection unit having three concentrically disposed tubes, the first tube delimiting a path for optical fiber travel, the first and second tubes spaced apart from one another forming a travel path therebetween for jelly or grease-like hydrocarbon filling material and the third tube (circumscribing the first and second tube) forming a chamber at a terminal end portion, the chamber in communication with the travel paths of both the grease and optical fibers and in which the grease comes in contact with the optical fibers, the chamber being so disposed that the contact point of the grease and fibers is only after the grease and fibers have traveled a majority of the length of the grease injection unit.
