  • Publication number: 20140020163
Abstract: A head and neck support (HANS) device comprises a yoke structure having a low collar, a left leg and a right leg extending respectively from a left side and a right side of the low collar, and a tether having a strap coupled to the low collar and a pair of catches connected to two ends of the strap. The low collar is characterized with a distance between a central line of the tether and a top end of each leg, where the distance is less than 70 mm. The catches of the tether are operable to attach to a helmet of the driver so as to engage the low collar with the helmet of the driver.

  • Patent number: 8539648
Abstract: A shackle is provided that is fixedly mounted to a surface. The shackle can have a body, a hasp, and a locking pin. The body can define at least one mounting bore that is configured for mounting the shackle to the surface. The proximal end of the hasp is configured to rotate relative to the body and the distal end of the hasp is configured to selectively engage the locking pin, such that an enclosed area is defined. A tethering device can be attached to the shackle via cooperative engagement with the selectively enclosed area.

  • Publication number: 20090229042
Abstract: A head and neck support device for a user of a vehicle with a safety harness over the shoulders of the user and a helmet on a head of the user is provided having a collar and a plurality of tethers. The helmet is configured to interact with the collar or the shoulder of the user to limit rotation of the head of the user. Lateral motions and associated forces on the user's head and spine are reduced by the transfer of associated forces to the user's body through the plurality of tethers and the interaction between the helmet and the collar or shoulder of the user.

  • Patent number: 7234210
Abstract: A post attachment device for connecting a helmet to a head and neck support. The device includes a post anchor having a base, a button, a resilient member, a post, a retainer and a catch having a slot with a larger first section connected by a channel to a smaller second section. The button is positioned in an indention in the base with the resilient member positioned therebetween. The post extends through the button, the base and the helmet. The retainer is secured on the post adjacent the inner surface of the helmet. To secure the post attachment device, the catch is orientated over the post. The button is then pressed into the base while the catch is moved backwards to move the post into the second section of the slot.
