  • Publication number: 20070137634
Abstract: A pellet-fired cooking apparatus is provided. The cooking apparatus may include an outer shell into which are mounted at least a fuel support member and a food support member. Pellet fuel may be placed on the fuel support member and may be used to cook food placed on the food support member. The fuel support member may have a construction that allows for controlled combustion of the pellet fuel, providing for desired cooking characteristics of the pellet fuel. Intake air for combustion may be provided to the pellet fuel through one or more hollow supports for the cooking apparatus.

  • Publication number: 20070137503
Abstract: An apparatus for generating smoke is provided. The apparatus includes a hopper chamber that is adapted to receive pellet fuel and a smoke chamber that is adapted to collect and emit smoke. It also includes a pellet burning assembly with ends adjacent each chamber. The pellet burning assembly includes openings positioned to receive pellet fuel from within the hopper chamber and auger means for conveying pellet fuel from the openings to fire pots with perforated sides and a top communicating with the interior of the smoke chamber. The smoke chamber includes a baffle adapted to deflect sparks rising from the fire pots. The apparatus also includes one or more blowers adapted to supply air to the fire pot through the perforated sides of the fire pot.

  • Patent number: 6698724
Abstract: A method of setting a pole in the ground. A cavity is prepared in the ground extending down from ground level. The pole has an end placed in the cavity. Organic fiber pellet material, expansible with the addition of water thereto, is introduced to the cavity and the cavity filled. Water is then added to produce a porous organic cake firmly holding the post in place.

  • Patent number: 5251607
Abstract: A pellet-fired cooking grill which includes a housing having a grill chamber defined within it. Tubular structure extends downwardly from the base of the chamber and defined within this structure is a burning zone. A hopper holding pellet fuel disposed above and adjacent the burning zone supplied pellets through a gravity operated chute to the burning zone.

  • Patent number: 4989521
Abstract: A gravity operated burner for particulate fuel. Fuel held in a hopper drops downwardly through a fuel tube to fall on an inclined chute. The chute feeds a shelf where burning takes place in a high heat zone. Material on the shelf stops unhindered flow of fuel down the chute.

  • Patent number: 4619209
Abstract: A furnace which includes a furnace chamber and a fire pot within the chamber for burning solid fuel fed into the fire pot. The fuel is introduced to the fire pot by traveling through a feed tube which extends into the furnace chamber. An air flow is produced for supporting combustion which flows from a chamber defined about the fire pot into the fire pot and also flows through the feed tube effectively to prevent smoke back flow. A metering wheel supplies the solid fuel which is burned from a hopper and this metering wheel, together with an auger which moves fuel through the feed tube, are organized and arranged in such a manner as to eliminate hazardous back burning of fuel.
