Publication number: 20130303021Abstract: Connector block for connecting a panel mount coaxial connector to a circuit board. The connector block is electrically conductive, and includes one or more connector slots, each configured to receive a respective coaxial connector that includes an external connection for electrically connecting to a respective complementary coaxial connector of a coaxial cable, and an internal connection for electrically connecting to a trace on a circuit board. The connector block further includes one or more ground pads, each proximate to a respective connector slot. For each of the one or more ground pads, when the panel mount coaxial connector is inserted into the connector slot, the ground pad provides a ground connection to a panel mount coaxial connector, and when the connector block is installed on the circuit board, the ground pad connects to a respective specified ground point on the circuit board, thereby grounding the corresponding panel mount coaxial connector.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 11, 2012Publication date: November 14, 2013Inventors: Mark A. Vackar, Bruce R. Perry

Patent number: 7665185Abstract: A hinge assembly containing a receiver member having a corrugated inner surface and a locking pin for being pivotally disposed within the receiver portion about an axis. The locking pin and receiver member have complementary corrugated engaging surfaces that allow the hinge to provide support for a cantilevered structure when the pin and receiver are engaged. When the complimentary pin and receiver are disengaged, the pin member can be incrementally rotated so as to allow the cantilevered structure to be positioned in a different position or orientation.Type: GrantFiled: May 24, 2007Date of Patent: February 23, 2010Assignee: Toshiba International CorporationInventor: Mark A. Publication number: 20070137849Abstract: A heatsink assembly made of multiple heatsink sections to remove more heat than conventional heatsinks. The heatsink section's length is based upon the point at which the flow becomes steady. The fins and air channels of adjacent heatsink sections are arranged so that air channels align with the fins of the corresponding adjacent heatsink section. This allows for the heatsink section to begin boundary layer growth over the fins again.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 15, 2005Publication date: June 21, 2007Applicant: TOSHIBA INTERNATIONAL CORPORATIONInventor: Mark Vackar

Publication number: 20070115616Abstract: An assembly for latching together electrical components and the like is disclosed. In some embodiments, the assembly includes a latching mechanism that is used to latch together an uninterrupted power supply (UPS) system chassis having at least one electrical connector to electrically connect to at least one modular unit. In some embodiments, the latch mechanism is configured to draw one of said at least one modular unit laterally in a side-to-side direction against said support chassis from an unlatched position in which said at least one electrical connector of said support chassis and said at least one corresponding electrical connector of said one of said at least one modular units are disengaged to a latched position in which said at least one electrical connector of said support chassis and said at least one corresponding electrical connector of said one of said at least one modular units are engaged.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 31, 2006Publication date: May 24, 2007Applicant: TOSHIBA INTERNATIONAL CORPORATIONInventor: Mark Vackar

Patent number: 7142428Abstract: A heatsink is provided for cooling power components on a printed circuit board. The heatsink includes a slot so that it is placed over the power device to be cooled. An activating member may be inserted from the opposite side of the printed circuit board and fastened into another slot running parallel to the slot containing the power device. The insertion of the activating member causes the wall between the device and the activating member to flex and clamp the power device in the slot.Type: GrantFiled: November 12, 2003Date of Patent: November 28, 2006Assignee: Toshiba International CorporationInventor: Mark A. Patent number: 6599658Abstract: A battery case comprising a pair of case members joined together along a seam to form a housing. Each case member includes a pair of sidewalls adapted to define a base surface on which the case rests so as to permit a plurality of resting orientations of the battery case. The seam is positioned above the lowermost base surface of the casing to contain any leaked battery acid regardless of case orientation. Further, the battery case includes supports for supporting the lower surface of the battery above any leaked acid, as well as partitions that define a discrete cavity for each battery to isolate the battery from an adjacent battery that may be leaking. The battery case also includes an electrical connector mounted for two dimensional movement that facilitates completion of a blind and automatic connection of the battery case with a complementary connector.Type: GrantFiled: February 28, 2001Date of Patent: July 29, 2003Assignee: Toshiba International CorporationInventor: Mark A Vackar

Patent number: 6317348Abstract: A modular UPS unit with an internal central support structure. Each module can be removed from the structure independent of the others, permitting hot swapping of the modules. The internal support structure simplifies the manufacture of the unit, minimizes the size, and the unit is easily expanded in the field. The uninterrupted power supply has a base section, a central support structure and uninterrupted power supply modules. The central support structure is modular and can be connected to the base. Additional modular sections can be added to the central support section. The modular sections are formed from panels having male fasteners and I/O connectors on the front of each panel. The uninterrupted power supply modules have female fasteners for connecting with the male fasteners on the panels and I/O connectors for connecting to the I/O connectors on the panel.Type: GrantFiled: December 20, 2000Date of Patent: November 13, 2001Assignee: Toshiba International CorporationInventor: Mark A.
