Patent number: 11933442Abstract: A pipe sealing gasket is shown which is designed to be received within a raceway provided within the female, belled end of a section of plastic pipe which is assembled with a mating male pipe end to form a plastic pipe joint. The gasket is a two-component gasket having a softer, elastomeric portion and a harder, plastic ring portion. A splicing technique is used to form the softer, elastomeric portion with the harder, plastic portion being injection molded over the previously formed elastomeric portion.Type: GrantFiled: April 4, 2022Date of Patent: March 19, 2024Assignee: S & B TECHNICAL PRODUCTS, INC.Inventors: Mark A. Publication number: 20230415402Abstract: A pipe belling process where a heated thermoplastic pipe end is forced over a sealing gasket on a forming mandrel, with the pipe being subsequently cooled to retain the gasket in an internal groove simultaneously formed in the pipe end. The sealing gasket is a two-component gasket with an elastic component and a plastic component. The elastic component is stretched over a portion of the plastic component during assembly with the plastic component acting as a belling ramp for the gasket during the subsequent pipe belling operation.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 19, 2023Publication date: December 28, 2023Applicant: S&B Technical Products, Inc.Inventors: Mark A. Publication number: 20220373117Abstract: A method is shown for manufacturing a hardened gripping element for a sealing and restraint system used for forming a pipe joint in a fluid pipeline. Instead of machining the gripping elements used in the system from a metal stock, a special series of metal injection molding steps are utilized. A metal polymer composite mix is first formed having a metal particulate phase and a polymer phase. A green metal composite article is formed by either extruding the composite mix or molding the composite mix into a metal polymer composite article having at least one gripping surface having a plurality of gripping teeth. The composite article is subjected to thermal debinding and sintering to produce a finished or near finished hardened gripping element.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 21, 2021Publication date: November 24, 2022Applicant: S & B Technical Products, Inc.Inventor: Mark A. Patent number: 11287072Abstract: A pipe sealing gasket is shown which is designed to be received within a raceway provided within the female, belled end of a section of plastic pipe which is assembled with a mating male pipe end to form a plastic pipe joint. The gasket is made up of a hard plastic band having an outer circumferential surface and an inner circumferential surface, and two separated elastomer portions. A first of the separated elastomer portions forms an outer ring which circumscribes the outer circumferential surface of the hard plastic band. The second of the separated elastomer portions forms an inner lip which circumscribes the inner circumferential surface of the hard plastic band. The two separate elastomer portions are connected during the gasket molding operation by a series of spaced ribs which form a continuous body of elastomer connecting the first and second separated elastomer portions at spaced intervals.Type: GrantFiled: August 19, 2020Date of Patent: March 29, 2022Assignee: S&B Technical Products, Inc.Inventors: Rodney Pacheco, Guido Quesada, Mark A. Patent number: 10383470Abstract: An anti-fatigue mat/shock pad has a mat body with a top surface, a bottom surface, a left side edge, a right side edge and a top and bottom edges. The top and bottom surface of the mat have raised regions thereon which are made up of longitudinally extending raised ribs arranged in parallel fashion with respect to one another and spaced apart a selected distance by longitudinal channels. The longitudinal ribs on the top surface are offset from the longitudinal ribs on the bottom surface in an alternating fashion so that they present a staggered array when viewed in cross section. This particular pattern of raised ribs on the top and bottom surfaces of the mat produces a non-linear deformation pattern under impact forces in use, such as would be caused by athletes running or jumping on an athletic field.Type: GrantFiled: June 7, 2018Date of Patent: August 20, 2019Assignee: S&B Technical Products, Inc.Inventor: Mark A. Patent number: 8444186Abstract: An apparatus for restraining plastic pipe against both internal and external forces at a pipe or fitting connection and to join and seal at least two pipes to form a pipeline is shown featuring an improved restraining and sealing mechanism. The restraining and sealing mechanism includes a circumferential housing and a companion sealing ring which are received within a mating groove provided in the belled end of a female pipe. The circumferential housing has an interior region which contains a gripping ring insert. The sealing ring and housing are integrally located within a belled pipe end during belling operations. Either the exterior of the gripping ring or the interior of the housing or both are provided with a low friction coating.Type: GrantFiled: November 23, 2009Date of Patent: May 21, 2013Assignee: S & B Technical Products, Inc.Inventors: Jim Jones, Mark Weih

Publication number: 20100000920Abstract: A water pressurization system is shown having a metal tank with a tank interior which is divided into first and second fluid chambers by a flexible membrane. One side of the tank interior is pressurized by compressed air. The membrane has a special coating applied thereto which decreases the natural permeability of the rubber material which is used to form the membrane. By decreasing the permeability of the membrane material, wear and tear on the membrane is decreased. The possibility of deloading the tank interior of pressurized gas due to the membrane permeability is also lessened.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 6, 2009Publication date: January 7, 2010Inventors: Ermanno Martinello, Mark Weih

Publication number: 20070196585Abstract: A method is shown for corrosion protecting both ductile iron and steel components, such as components used in a pipeline which forms a part of a water or sewer line used in the waterworks industry as a part of a fluid conveyance system. A surface of the component is coated with a corrosion resistant coating which is an aqueous phenolic resin dispersion. The component is dipped in a bath of the corrosion resistant coating and then baked, dried and cooled. An electrostatic powder coating is applied over the base phenolic resin coating for added corrosion protection and durability.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 23, 2007Publication date: August 23, 2007Inventors: Bradford Corbett, Mark Weih, Jorge Arias

Patent number: 6973949Abstract: A method for bonding a material to a first substrate surface that includes providing a catalyst at the first substrate surface and then contacting that surface with a material that undergoes a metathesis reaction to bond the material to the first substrate surface. There are two embodiments of this method—a coating process and an adhesive process. In the coating embodiment, the metathesizable material is contacted with the catalyst on the substrate surface so that it undergoes metathesis polymerization to form the coating. The adhesive process includes (a) providing a catalyst at the first substrate surface, (b) providing a metathesizable material between the first substrate surface and the second substrate surface, and (c) contacting the catalyst on the first substrate surface with the metathesizable material so that the metathesizable material undergoes a metathesis reaction and bonds the first substrate surface to the second substrate surface.Type: GrantFiled: November 13, 2000Date of Patent: December 13, 2005Assignee: Lord CorporationInventors: Edward F. Tokas, Ken C. Caster, Mark A. Weih
