Patent number: 8655809Abstract: Data structures and apparatuses to represent knowledge are disclosed. The processes can comprise labeling elements in a knowledge signature according to concepts in an ontology and populating the elements with confidence values. The data structures can comprise knowledge signatures stored on computer-readable media. The knowledge signatures comprise a matrix structure having elements labeled according to concepts in an ontology, wherein the value of the element represents a confidence that the concept is present in an information space. The apparatus can comprise a knowledge representation unit having at least one ontology stored on a computer-readable medium, at least one data-receiving device, and a processor configured to generate knowledge signatures by comparing datasets obtained by the data-receiving devices to the ontologies.Type: GrantFiled: July 20, 2011Date of Patent: February 18, 2014Assignee: Battelle Memorial InstituteInventors: Ryan E. Hohimer, Judi R. Thomson, William J. Harvey, Patrick R. Paulson, Mark A. Whiting, Stephen C. Tratz, Alan R. Chappell, Robert S. Butner

Patent number: 7917548Abstract: A system and method for extracting and converting data from one or more information sources into a common format. The method comprises receiving the information sources, receiving at least one pattern descriptor selected from a graphical user interface, and receiving one or more templates with each templates having at least one pattern descriptor. The method then proceeds to apply the one or more templates to the information sources. The method generates the plurality of data in a common format by parsing the information sources with the templates. The method stores the data in the common format.Type: GrantFiled: November 14, 2003Date of Patent: March 29, 2011Assignee: Bottelle Memorial InstituteInventors: Alexander G. Patent number: 6215656Abstract: An apparatus and method is provided for installing and connecting one or more expansion boards in a computer system while the computer system is being manufactured as well as when a user upgrades or reconfigures the computer system. An expansion board bay for receiving the expansion board is located within the computer system, typically on a circuit board such as the motherboard. A connector module that is separate from the expansion board and the expansion board bay is positioned within the computer system. The connector module is positioned to provide easy external access to a contact portion of the connector module, thereby allowing a user to connect an external data signal line to the connector module. A connector cable operably connects the expansion board with the connector module to establish communication between the data processor and the external data line through the expansion board.Type: GrantFiled: June 18, 1999Date of Patent: April 10, 2001Assignee: Dell USA, L.P.Inventors: Sean P. Patent number: 5593433Abstract: An implantable endocardial lead with a retractable helix. A specialized stylet can be inserted into the lead at the proximal end and passed through the lead to the distal end. Located at the distal end of the lead is a piston supporting the helix. The piston is attached to a coiled trifilar conductor and has an electrode adjacent the helix. Immediately adjacent the piston proximally an additional first short coil of wire is interlocked between the wires of the trifilar conductor, providing a female thread within the conductor. The stylet has a second single strand short coil segment spot welded to the stylet adjacent a distal end thereof. The stylet is rotated to screw the second short coil segment on the stylet into the first short coil adjacent the piston.Type: GrantFiled: December 19, 1994Date of Patent: January 14, 1997Assignee: Intermedics, Inc.Inventors: Paul R.
