  • Publication number: 20220274301
Abstract: An in-mold encapsulation and processes for its manufacture are disclosed, comprising two or more plastic molded parts and a coating, such that when the encapsulation is rotated 360° about an axis, the coating may be seen as applied to a portion of the outside surface of the molded parts at any degree about that axis. In embodiments, the molded parts comprise polycarbonate, and the coating composition comprises isocyanate reactive groups and a polyisocyanate. The encapsulation may comprise areas where the coating is not applied, even though only the coating and not any other adhesive or structure holds the plastic molded parts together.

  • Patent number: 10914673
Abstract: A device for torque measurement of friction includes a cylindrical core and a cap with a central cavity for receiving the cylindrical core. The cap includes at least one protrusion or indent on an inner surface, and the cylindrical core includes at least one protrusion or indent on an exterior surface. The device includes at least one protrusion to provide a pulsed interference contact with a second protrusion or indent on the cylindrical core or cap as the protrusion moves into and out of contact with the at least one second protrusion or indent when the cap is rotated about the cylindrical core. The device may be connected to a test apparatus configured to measure rotational torque between the cap and cylindrical core as they rotate with respect to one another.

  • Patent number: 10620098
Abstract: An apparatus and methods for testing components under force is described herein. The apparatus comprises cap bolts that may be tightened to exert a measurable, constant force upon a lever arm that rotates about a fulcrum. The lever arm pushes down upon a push rod, to exert a force upon a test piece in an insertion well, which may be filled with fluid. The fulcrum may be positioned, such that the force from the cap bolt gives a magnifying, or a diluting force, upon the push rod.

Abstract: A device for torque measurement of friction and methods of use thereof are disclosed. The device includes a cylindrical core and a cap with a central cavity for receiving the cylindrical core. The cap includes at least one protrusion or indent on an inner surface, and the cylindrical core includes at least one protrusion or indent on an exterior surface. The device includes at least one first protrusion on either of the cylindrical core or cap that provides a pulsed interference contact with at least one of a second protrusion or indent on the other of the cylindrical core or cap as the at least one first protrusion moves into and out of contact with the at least one second protrusion or indent when the cap is rotated about the cylindrical core. The device may be connected to a test apparatus configured to measure rotational torque between the cap and cylindrical core as they rotate with respect to one another.

  • Patent number: 7314590
Abstract: A gasket (1) having a reversibly compressible lower portion (17), and an upper portion (14) having at least one upwardly extending extension, is described. The upper portion (14) of the gasket (1) includes a first (34) and optionally a second (37) upwardly extending extension, each having an exterior surface (43, 55). The first and second extensions of the upper portion each have a vertical center line (49, 58) that resides over (or extends through) an underlying exterior longitudinal groove (73, 76) of the lower portion, such that when the gasket is compressed along its vertical center axis (23) a force (79, 82) is exerted laterally outward along (or through) the exterior surfaces of the upwardly extending extensions. The force exerted laterally outward along the exterior surface of an upwardly extending extension serves to maintain a seal (214, 217) formed by abutment of the exterior surface of the extension with a separate surface (e.g.
