The traveler monitor obtains traveler preference information associated with a traveler. The traveler preference information indicates one or more travel criteria for a trip. Travel criteria comprises one or more parameters of travel products available for the trip. The contextual information parser infers one or more travel criteria from contextual information obtained for the trip. The contextual information is information that does not include any travel criterion. The recommendation engine determines a recommended travel itinerary for the trip to the traveler based on the travel preference information and the contextual information. The recommendation engine further causes a display of the recommended travel itinerary to the traveler.

    Abstract: A computerized travel itinerary recommendation tool includes an itinerary set selector, a user preference modeler, and a recommendation engine. The itinerary set selector obtains one or more trip conditions from a user and causes the display of a first set of two or more selected travel itineraries conforming to the trip conditions. The itinerary set selector further prompts the user to select a subset of the first set of displayed travel itineraries. The user preference modeler adjusts a user preference model based at least in part on the user's selection. The recommendation engine applies the user preference model to a set of travel products conforming to the trip criteria. and causes the display of a recommended travel itinerary. The recommended travel itinerary is a travel product from the set of travel products that most closely matches the user preferences based on the user preference model.
