  • Patent number: 8742841
Abstract: An amplifier may use pulse-width modulators controlling respective sets of switches to produce an amplified version of a source signal. A phase locked loop in the amplifier may generate a differential clock signal. A first processing element operating according to a first supply voltage may generate a PWM signal representative of the source signal, and also generate a clock enable signal corresponding to the differential clock signal. A second processing element (PE2) may receive the differential clock signal, the PWM signal, and the clock enable signal, and level shift the PWM signal and the clock enable signal to operate according to a second supply voltage, and may generate a resampling clock signal from the differential clock signal according to the level shifted clock enable signal. The PE2 may provide a PWM output signal representative of the source signal by resampling the level shifted PWM signal with the resampling clock signal.

  • Patent number: 8710623
Abstract: Integrated circuits are fabricated with mounted discrete capacitors. Bond pads and land pads are fabricated on a semiconductor wafer. Discrete capacitors are mounted on the semiconductor wafer with flexible adhesive. The flexible adhesive accommodates a difference in thermal expansion between the discrete capacitors and the semiconductor wafer. The land pads are electrically coupled to the electrodes of the discrete capacitors. The semiconductor wafer is separated into multiple semiconductor dice. The semiconductor dice are mounted in respective packages. The bond pads on each semiconductor die are electrically coupled to the interconnect terminals of the respective package.

  • Publication number: 20140107195
Abstract: A water-swellable linear polyurethane polymer is formed by reacting a polyethylene oxide (e.g. PEG 4000 to 35,000), a difunctional compound (e.g. a diamine or diol such as 1,10-decanediol) with a diisocyanate. The ratio of the three components is generally in the range 0.1-1.5 to 1 to 1.1-2.5. The polyurethane is water-swellable in the range 300 to 1700% and soluble in certain organic solvents such as dichloromethane. It can be loaded with pharmaceutically active agents, particularly of high molecular weight, to produce controlled release compositions, such as pessaries etc.

  • Publication number: 20140096022
Abstract: A system for creating image and or text-based projects includes a server, the server having access to a processor, a data repository, and a non-transitory physical medium. Software running from the non-transitory physical medium provides a first function for establishing a server connection between the server and a computing appliance, a second function for initiating and maintaining a data session with a user, a third function for gathering information in a project, a fourth function for analyzing the information gathered and developing a list of keywords, a fifth function for searching one or more data sources for images and other assets using one or more of the primary keywords developed by the fourth function, and a sixth function for dynamically presenting one or more digital assets found in the search to the one or more users working on the project.

  • Publication number: 20140059671
Abstract: Information and data stored by a mobile device is protected by comprising applying password-protection to the locally-stored information without persistently storing the corresponding password locally. Rather, the corresponding password is stored by a remote password server. In response to a trigger event on the mobile device, such as an unlocking action by the user, a request is sent by the mobile device to the password server to retrieve the corresponding server, and the corresponding password is returned to the mobile device. The mobile device can then use the password to access the protected information. If the user determines that the mobile device is lost, stolen, or out of the user's physical control, the user may access the password server and disable the sending of the password to the mobile device, thereby thwarting attempts to access the protected data on the mobile device.

  • Publication number: 20140033299
Abstract: A password protection application is executed on a mobile device and provides an interface by which an authorized user can define and configure a “data protection profile” for the device. This profile defines at least one security event (criteria or condition) associated with the device, and at least one protection action that should occur to protect data on the device upon the triggering of the event. Once defined in a profile, the application monitors for the occurrence of the security event. Upon the occurrence of the specified event, the protection action is enforced on the device to protect the data.

  • Publication number: 20140023149
Abstract: In a method of analyzing an input video sequence, pixels of synthesized images of an output video sequence are associated with respective directions of regularity belonging to a predefined set of directions. A first subset of candidate directions is determined from the predefined set of directions for a region of a first image of the output sequence. For a corresponding region of a second synthesized image of the output sequence following the first image, a second subset of candidate directions is determined from the predefined set of directions, based on images of the input sequence and the first subset of candidate directions. The directions of regularity for pixels of this region of the second synthesized image are detected from the second subset of candidate directions. The recursive determination of the subsets of candidate directions provides a sparse geometry for efficiently analyzing the video sequence.

  • Publication number: 20130333975
Abstract: The present invention provides a loudspeaker with a port tube having an acoustic leakage path through a motile part thereof. In this way, excess energy caused by longitudinal resonance at higher frequencies is radiated transversely through the port tube walls rather than contributing to the output of the loudspeaker itself.

  • Publication number: 20130324083
Abstract: The different illustrative embodiments provide a method, computer program product, and apparatus for managing an authentication request. A determination is made whether additional authentication is to be performed responsive to receiving the authentication request to access an application from a mobile device. A phone number to call is sent to the mobile device responsive to a determination that the additional authentication is to be performed. A determination is made whether an incoming call to the phone number is from the mobile device and within a selected period of time. The authentication request to access the application from the mobile device is granted responsive to a determination that the incoming call to the phone number is from the mobile device and within the selected period of time.

  • Publication number: 20130277140
Abstract: A loudspeaker comprises a reflex port located within the enclosure at a point substantially co-incident with a nodal surface of at least one resonant mode within the enclosure. The amplitude of that resonance at the input to the duct is minimised, hence assisting in filtering out the effect of that resonance without needing absorptive material. Ideally, it is placed at the intersection of two or more nodal surfaces.

  • Patent number: 8555339
Abstract: A technique that identifies registered or guest users in web meetings of the type wherein users must follow a supplied URL to attend the meeting. Registered and guest users are provided different forms of the meeting invite URL. Each registered user receives a common web meeting link (a URL) that he must follow to join the meeting. This link forces the registered user to authenticate to the service when used. A guest user invitee receives a unique URL for the meeting that is generated with a nonce value associated with the guess user's contact information. The nonce value does not expose the contact information. To join the meeting, each registered user must follow the common web meeting link and authenticate to the service. True identities of the web meeting participants are displayed.

  • Patent number: 8521485
Abstract: Approaches for analyzing a power grid of an integrated circuit are described. In one embodiment, a method includes selecting at least one portion of the integrated circuit to be analyzed. A power grid model corresponding to the integrated circuit is retrieved from a database, and a first simulation of the programmable integrated circuit is performed. The first simulation generates a respective waveform of an electrical characteristic over time for each connection of a component within the selected portion to voltage supply or voltage ground. A simulation is performed of the power grid model using the respective waveforms as input stimulus for each connection in the selected portion.

  • Patent number: 8467499
Abstract: A multi-leaf collimator for a radiotherapy apparatus comprises a plurality of elongate leaves mounted in a carriage, the carriage being mounted on a substrate, wherein the leaves are independently moveable relative to the carriage in a longitudinal direction, and the carriage is moveable in that direction relative to the substrate, and a control apparatus is arranged to receive a signal representing leaf positions relative to the substrate and to control the leaf positions relative to the carriage and the carriage positions relative to the substrate so as to achieve those leaf positions relative to the substrate. Most MLCs sense the current positions of the leaves relative to the substrate. The control apparatus can therefore compare the current leaf positions to the signaled leaf positions, and move the leaves and the carriage accordingly. A corresponding method is also disclosed.
