    Abstract: There is disclosed a process for the oxychlorination of ethane which comprises reacting a gaseous mixture of ethane, oxygen and a chlorination agent such as hydrogen chloride, preferably in a fluidized bed, while in the presence of a copper substituted faujasite Y catalyst so as to produce a product containing a mixture of chlorinated hydrocarbons selected from the group consisting of cis 1,2-dichloroethylene, 1,1-dichloroethane, 1,2-dichloroethane, trichloroethylene, vinyl chloride and perchloroethylene.
