    Abstract: An automatic temperature control system for a gas-powered catalytic curling iron. A bi-metal thermostat element positioned co-extensive to the tubular hair winding portion of a curling iron includes a tube and a rod located within the tube. The tube and the rod have different co-efficients of thermal expansion. A control plate is adapted to control the axial movement of a valve stem. The bi-metal thermostat element is coupled to a first end of the control plate and a manual on/off selector means is coupled to the second end of the control plate.
