  • Patent number: 4928867
Abstract: A connector (10) for positioning fasteners (16) in a preformed opening (24) in a wall (12). Tabs (18) formed on the front surface (13) of the wall (12) guide the nail gun (22) and trip a trigger mechanism to cause the fastener (16) to be driven through the wall (12) and into an abutting structural member. The system further includes a nail gun (59) having a follower plate (94) pivotally mounted in channels (89) formed on each side of a foot (79). Each follower plate (94) is guided into contact with a tab (116) that pivots the follower plate (94) into contact with a mounting plate (75) attached to a linking arm (68) that enables activation of a pneumatic nail driving device (62) and the ejection of a nail through a predetermined position on the connector (118).

  • Patent number: 4825621
Abstract: A one-piece holddown comprising a back plate, opposing parallel side plates, and overlapping parallel base plates. The side plates are integrally connected to the back plate, and the base plates are integrally connected to respective side plates, creating a one piece holddown. The upper portions of the side plates adjoining the back plate are narrower than the side plates' lower portions, which extend below the lower edge of the back plate. The base plates are each integrally connected along a base edge of a side plate, and extend perpendicularly toward the opposite side plate. Aligned base holes allow the holddown to be attached by its base plates to an anchor bolt in a concrete foundation. Two back holes allow the back plate to be attached to a stud oriented perpendicularly to the foundation.A method for continuously manufacturing holddowns using a four-stage progressive die.

  • Patent number: 4739598
Abstract: An improved mudsill anchor is provided with tabs is its attachment arm or arms for fastening the anchor temporarily to a form board without nails to achieve significant savings in labor and improvement in lateral stability of the anchor during installation of a concrete slab foundation. Further improvements include a bendable tab formed from the lower end of the anchor leg for tying the leg to a reinforcing bar and a bent tab proximate the upper end of the leg that is embedded into the form board to prevent the reinforcing bar from pulling the mudsill anchor up from the form board.
