  • Patent number: 4976352
Abstract: Personal luggage specific for camera equipment, sometimes known as camera bags, have been designed to permit ready access to the equipment, yet secure that equipment for transport. Such bags have been bulky and uncomfortable, and the conflicting goals of securing the equipment but providing ready access have resulted in a number of design compromises.Accordingly, the camera bag 1 includes an upper portion which has a handle facet 60 which carries handle 62 adjacent a relatively angled lid portion 10. The handle facet is adjacent to a body side panel 20, which normally is tangent to the body of the user of the bag. The lid 10 is operated to hinge around the upper edge of the front panel 40 of the bag. This permits a lid pocket 90 to be deployed simultaneously with the opening and pivoting of the lid 10. When the lid 10 is in the open position, the main packing compartment and a substantial accessory compartment 90 are presented to the user.

  • Patent number: 4828081
Abstract: Various systems have been proposed for providing personal identification information in conjunction with luggage pieces. Recently there has been concern that such personal identifying information should not be broadly or notoriously displayed. Thus, I.D. tags having a flap covering this personal identification information have been offered to the public. Information on such tags still can be relatively easily viewed, and the tags can become lost or pulled off of the luggage through ordinary baggage handling. The disclosed system includes an identification panel which is flush with a panel of the luggage and is normally protected by the luggage construction itself, specifically a web tangent to and affixed permanently to the outer covering of that luggage panel. The identification panel includes an elastic member which holds the identification panel against all but determined intentional effort to withdraw the panel from underneath the web.

  • Patent number: 4713860
Abstract: A handle assembly including a gripping handle, a pair of posts adapted for connection to a piece of luggage, and a cover unit is provided. Each of the posts includes a hole. Each of the posts is insertable into one of two slots formed in the gripping handle. The gripping handle includes openings. A locking pin is inserted into the openings and each post hole to connect the gripping handle to the posts. The cover unit is fixedly fitted over the locking pins so that the locking pins are substantially concealed from view.

  • Patent number: 4433761
Abstract: A portfolio for an attache case or the like includes a front panel assembly defined by a portfolio frame and a backing panel. The portfolio frame is preferably formed from a single piece of molded material, such as plastic, having flexible but semirigid characteristics. A peripheral margin structure of the portfolio frame defines an interior opening through the frame, and the backing panel covers the interior opening. Article retention means extend from the peripheral margin structure into the interior opening. The article retention means cooperate with the backing panel to retain articles therebetween. The backing panel is attached to the portfolio frame preferably by ultrasonically deforming projections from the frame over openings in the panel. A pocket structure of the portfolio is preferably sewn to rearward extending skirt portions of the peripheral margin structure of the frame.
