  • Patent number: 9549044
Abstract: A method and associated system. A user interest rating for a downloadable item stored outside a user device is computed, which includes: maintaining a user profile of a user's preference for types of items that include the downloadable item, identifying one or more characteristics of the downloadable item, and predicting a likely level of user interest for the downloadable item based on the identified characteristics of the downloadable item and the user profile. A data impact rating for the downloadable item is computed, which includes identifying parameters. A download decision, of whether to download the downloadable item, is computed in dependence on the user interest rating for the downloadable item and the data impact rating for the downloadable item.

  • Publication number: 20160379283
Abstract: In an approach for providing a product recommendation, a processor identifies an image as trending, based on the image exceeding a threshold frequency of occurrence on at least one media platform. A processor analyzes the image to identify a set of one or more elements within the image, wherein at least one element is a product. A processor determines one or more interests of a user. A processor determines that the product is relevant to the user based on the one or more interests of the user corresponding, within a predetermined threshold, to an element of the set of one or more elements within the image. A processor sends a notification that includes at least the product.

  • Patent number: 9340399
Abstract: According to the embodiments described herein, an industrial vehicle can include a camera and one or more processors. The camera can capture an input image of ceiling lights of the ceiling of the warehouse. The one or more processors can execute machine readable instructions to detect transversal edges from the ceiling lights of the input image. The machine readable instructions executed by the one or more processors can determine points of convergence between the transversal edges and a first edge line and a second edge line. The machine readable instructions executed by the one or more processors can select a set of point fixes from the points of convergence. The machine readable instructions executed by the one or more processors can navigate the industrial vehicle through the warehouse utilizing the centerline and the set of point fixes.

  • Publication number: 20160011595
Abstract: According to the embodiments described herein, a method for environmental based localization may include capturing an input image of a ceiling comprising a plurality of skylights. Features can be extracted from the input image. The features can be grouped into a plurality of feature groups such that each of the feature groups is associated with one of the skylights. Line segments can be extracted from the features of each feature group, automatically, with one or more processors executing a feature extraction algorithm on each feature group separately. At least two selected lines of the line segments of each feature groups can be selected. A centerline for each of the feature groups can be determined based at least in part upon the two selected lines. The center line of each of the feature groups can be associated with one of the skylights.

  • Publication number: 20150350956
Abstract: An approach is provided for adjusting a characteristic of a data stream. A rate of data usage provided by one or more data streams within a time period that has not ended is determined. An amount of time remaining in the time period is determined. Based at least in part on the amount of time remaining in the time period and the rate of data usage, an expected amount of data usage within the entire time period is determined. Whether the expected amount of data usage exceeds a limit on data usage within the entire time period is determined. If the expected amount of data usage exceeds the limit, the characteristic of the data stream is adjusted so that actual data usage within the entire time period does not exceed the limit. The actual data usage is based in part on the adjusted characteristic.

  • Patent number: 8976225
Abstract: A method for managing media streams including at least video data and audio data in a multi-party video conference involving one or more groups of one or more nodes respectively receiving a media stream from each of a plurality of associated endpoints is provided. In each of the one or more nodes of each of the one or more groups, the loudest audio of the media streams received from the respective plurality of associated endpoints is determined. An indication of the volume of the determined loudest audio and an identification of the node is transmitted to a decision maker. The highest received volume and the associated identification is determined. The node of the identification is instructed to transmit the received media stream of the endpoint to one of: all nodes in the one or more groups and to a proxy.
