  • Patent number: 11910949
Abstract: A method and an apparatus for preparing food. In one example the method comprises the steps of: providing a cooking pan; filing the cooking pan with a food item; wherein the food item is at least partially liquid; placing the pan in thermal connection to a heat source; thermally connecting a temperature sensor to the cooking pan at the temperature sensing location; heating the food in the pan via a heat source having a first thermal output until the food reaches the boiling point; electronically detecting the temperature via the temperature sensor as the food is heated; detecting the temperature as the food item boils, resulting in a phase change and corresponding drop in temperature; and reducing the thermal output of the heat source to a second thermal output.

  • Patent number: 9489652
Abstract: A computing device that is configured for running a query on inventory information is described. The computing device includes a processor and instructions stored in memory that is in electronic communication with the processor. The computing device obtains inventory data. The computing device also obtains a query corresponding to the computing device. The computing device runs the query on the inventory data. The computing device further determines whether the query returns a record. The computing device additionally obtains a task corresponding to the query if a record is returned.

  • Patent number: 8902485
Abstract: A contrast enhancing system is provided comprising: a digital micromirror device (DMD); a light source; a first integrator that receives light from the light source, comprising lateral long and short dimensions, the lateral short dimension at a non-zero angle to the DMD tilt axis; a second integrator that receives and shapes light from the first integrator; a telecentric lens about midway between the integrators that generates fast and slow f-number directions of the light in angle space, respectively corresponding to the lateral long and short dimensions of the first integrator, the slow f-number direction correspondingly at the non-zero angle to the DMD tilt axis, thereby increasing dead-zones between adjacent ones of a DMD illumination path and DMD reflection paths for each of the on, flat and off-state positions; and, at least one optical component that focuses the light along the illumination path from the second integrator onto the DMD.

  • Patent number: 8719815
Abstract: A method for distributing a computer software package using a pre-requisite query is disclosed. A first pre-requisite query is associated with a package. Attribute information is obtained from one or more managed nodes across a computer network. The attribute information is stored on an administrative system. The first pre-requisite query is run using the attribute information on the administrative system to obtain a first result. The first result indicates whether the one or more managed nodes has the necessary attribute information for the package. The package is sent to the one or more managed nodes that have the necessary attribute information for the package.

  • Patent number: 8150961
Abstract: Systems and methods for updating distributed network inventory services are disclosed. A network or a portion thereof is scanned to identify at least one computing asset within the scanned portion. A scan file is compiled based on the information obtained. A first inventory service is updated based on the scan file. A second inventory service is identified. The scan file is transmitted to the second inventory service, and the second inventory service is updated based on the scan file. In one embodiment, the inventory services are selectively updated based on specific types of data, such as hardware or software inventory data, within the scan file. In addition, a specialized database management system may be used to enable data gathering techniques specific to inventory data.

  • Patent number: 7865889
Abstract: In an exemplary embodiment, a deployment program on an administrative system receives user input to deploy target software to the managed nodes in a recipient group. In response, the deployment program identifies a pilot group to test the target software. The pilot group comprises a subset of the recipient group. Each managed node in the pilot group has a unique combination of N attributes. The deployment program deploys the target software to the pilot group prior to deploying the target software to other managed nodes in the recipient group that are not part of the pilot group.

  • Patent number: 7427908
Abstract: A magnetic shimming configuration for a high-field magnet having optimized turn geometry and electrical circuitry. The present invention accomplishes this by combining the corrective functionalities of the standard X and ZX shims into two single, simplified electrical circuits and conductors, optimized for field strength as a function of turn location. The standard Y and ZY shims were also replaced with two single, simplified circuits and conductor that is corrective of the Y and ZY fields. The new configuration also eliminates the need of additional “second, outboard turns” of the traditional X, ZX, Y, and ZY shims, located further away from the mid-plane.

  • Patent number: 6990807
Abstract: One preferred embodiment of the present invention, provides an auxiliary hydraulic drive system having a total hydraulic flow. The system includes a primary hydraulic pump operable to provide hydraulic flow for an implement, and a flow control valve in communication with the hydraulic flow. The flow control valve operates to allow an optimum flow rate and diverts the excess flow amount when the total hydraulic flow exceeds the optimum flow rate. A secondary hydraulic pump is selectively operable to provide additional hydraulic flow. A control system is operable to engage the secondary pump when the total hydraulic flow drops below a minimum flow level; and the control system operates to disengage the secondary pump when the total hydraulic flow exceeds a maximum flow level. In a further embodiment, the invention provides a control unit for a hydraulic system. The control unit includes a sensor to measure total hydraulic fluid flow in a system; and a controller coupled to the sensor.

In one embodiment, the package includes a substrate having opposed top and bottom surfaces and an aperture therebetween. The substrate includes an insulative layer and top and bottom metal layers on the insulative layer around the aperture. The metal layers are electrically connected through the insulative layer. At least one die is supported within the aperture by an insulative encapsulant material. The bottom surface of the die is exposed. In alternative embodiments, a stack including a plurality of die (e.g., two die) are supported in the aperture. Rectangular metal are provided in a single row on the bottom surface of the substrate along at least two edges of the package.

  • Patent number: 6083382
Abstract: A system and method for producing potable water from a brine source uses an Archimedean screw to elevate water to an elevated point. The water is then filtered to desalinate the water through a series of filters arranged in a vertical shaft using gravity to move the water through the filters. The vertical nature of the screw and shaft reduce land requirements and costs. A power source turns the screw and relies on renewable energy sources, such as solar, wind, and tidal/wave power. A turbine is used to recapture any energy in the descending water. The screw, renewable energy power source, and turbine reduce the energy requirements and costs. A brine recycling system recovers the removed brine and various elements and minerals are separated.
