    Abstract: The method and the apparatus disclosed serve to acquire seismic induced movements. A coil and a permanent magnet are contained in an enclosure and the seismic movements induce a relative movement between said coil and said magnet. The current induced into the coil is appraised as a measure of said seismic movement. The position of the coil in relation to the permanent magnet is monitored by a position sensor. A closed loop control generates a current that is fed into the coil so that the coil settles at a given neutral position relative to the permanent magnet.
