  • Patent number: 5378539
Abstract: This invention provides a flame-retardant thermoplastic composition comprising a blend of ethylene copolymers, polyethylene, metal hydroxides and optionally a coupling agent and a compatibilizing agent, which is mildly cross-linked during blending with a peroxide and a polyfunctional compound. The composition has superior flame retardancy and a good balance of mechanical properties and electrical insulating properties, and maintains melt processibility for use as a sheath or insulation for wires and cables.
