Abstract: A window assembly and method of constructing a window assembly is disclosed. The window assembly comprises a base frame assembly, an external cladding assembly, an interior trim assembly and a sash assembly. In one embodiment, the base frame assembly, external cladding assembly and interior trim assembly are constructed from one of three different types of materials. The external cladding assembly may also be snap-fit onto the base frame assembly. Further, the interior trim assembly can include a jamb extension assembly that can also be snap-fit onto the base frame assembly. The interior trim assembly may also include head, sill and side stop assemblies which can be push-fit onto the base frame assembly. Another aspect of the disclosure is a sash assembly that can be assembled as a snap-fit assembly.

Abstract: A wood preservative composition comprising a mixture of a fungicide which is a combination of a boric acid ester, which is soluble in an organic solvent and has a sterically hindered di-alcohol or tri-alcohol group, such as trihexylene glycol biborate, an organo-iodine compound, a triazole, and a synthetic pyrethroid insecticide, said fungicide and the insecticide being present in a sufficient amount that wood treated with the wood treatment material contains fungicide and insecticide in an amount of about 1 ppm to 5000 ppm, based on the weight of the wood after treatment.

Abstract: A process for separating ash particles from an aqueous slurry containing a mixture of regenerated adsorbent (e.g., carbon) and ash particles includes the steps of settling the slurry to produce a solid phase including the mixture of adsorbent and ash particles and a supernatant or a clarified aqueous phase. After separation of the aqueous phase, a slurry of the solid phase is diluted with water and a dispersing agent for promoting suspension of the ash particles and an anionic polymer for promoting settling of the adsorbent particles are added. The thus-treated, dilute slurry is settled to produce an aqueous phase containing primarily suspended ash particles and a solid phase including carbon particles. After separation, the solid phase can be returned to a wastewater treatment system.

Abstract: Suspended ash in wastewater is efficiently concentrated and removed by mixing the ash suspension with thermally conditioned sludge. The solids in the resulting ash/sludge mixture are easily settled and dewatered by conventional means.
