Abstract: A fan air control assembly for a spray gun (10) controls the flow rate of a fan air portion of compressed air to the spray end of the spray gun (10), thereby controlling the resulting spray pattern. The fan air lever (28) is accessible from the exterior of the spray gun (10) and can be manipulated while spraying by the hand of the user holding the sprayer and manipulating the trigger. The fan air control assembly (20) is rotatable on a valve axis (B) to control the flow of the fan air portion.

Abstract: An air-assisted airless spray gun includes a valve cartridge configured to control a flow of air or spray fluid through the spray gun. The valve cartridge includes a housing configured to interface with the spray gun body and fully supporting the flow control components of the valve cartridge. The housing is secured within a bore of the spray gun body. The valve member is supported by the housing and actuatable relative to a seat. The valve is formed between the seal end of the valve member and the seat.

Towards this end, the gun (1) is designed so as to be easily serviceable with a minimum of tools. For example, the side seal cartridges (18) and (20) may be installed and removed without tools by removing the retaining ring (9) and then extracting them from the fluid housing (11). Those cartridges (18) and (20) are easily disassembled and cleaned. Similarly, the fluid housing (11) may be removed from the handle/body (1) by unscrewing the lock ring (7) by hand.
